Daily Inspiration: Meet Christian Ortiz

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christian Ortiz.

Hi Christian, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I always knew I wanted to use my talents to make a living. I’ve always been entrepreneurial. The hustle was spawned out of survival. I faced many challenges in which I had to overcome in my life since I was a child, however, I jump without fear and learn from experience and failure so I knew that when I got to the place I wanted to be, I’d have a lifetime of experience in life and business to help me through my obstacles. Over time, I decided to take the corporate world approach. I worked for a highly reputable company in Columbus, Georgia for almost six years. I excelled at my job, however, I quickly realized that my passion for serving others and my creative spirit were being muffled and my daily stress was not worth it, given my position.

In mid-October 2019, I decided enough was enough. I took the leap many consider to be one of the greatest risks of my life. With no real business plan and no idea of what I wanted to do, I had enough confidence in myself to know that whatever I decided to do, it would be better than where I was. Two days after resigning, I decided that I was going to use my 20 years of experience and connections to help manage and market local businesses with their social media platforms. The day after, I obtained my business license. A week later, I obtained three clients. Now three years later, I filmed a record-setting movie, have serviced over 70 brands and businesses, and have started two new start-ups here in Denver with my business partners.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It is never a smooth road, however, the most amazing journeys traveled are met with the worst terrain. When you take an idea and create a world for yourself, it takes work to help everyone understand your vision. You learn the importance of communication, presentation, consistency, and follow-through. No one knows what your vision looks like, so learning the hundreds of ways to paint the picture to those you try to serve is a challenge and, it is almost never overnight. I always face challenges. However, it’s how I choose to be creative and consistent that sets me apart from everyone else. You have to love what you do. I learned a long time ago that successful businesses are more than a sure-fire business plan. It’s having the mental capacity, the emotional intelligence, love, and patience to operate successfully that matters most.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m known as the human octopus.

I’m a father, Life Coach, self-taught musician, photographer, music producer, promoter, artist, and whatever else you can think of that I can dabble in creatively. I am not the best at any of it, but I humbly admit that I’ve made somewhat of a name for myself given the resources available to me over the last 20 + years.

When I started my media company, I wanted to use every one of those talents to my advantage while simultaneously representing my clients in their way. This means I have to deep-dive into the culture of my clients. I have to understand my clients in how they not only conduct business but what their vision is and how they service others. In addition, I provide my custom photography from ‘Modtography’ (my photography company) to help capture moments and tell a story through social media. We are in a mile-a-minute scrolling society. If your posts don’t capture someone’s eye through visual stimulus and provide value, then what you put out there will be overlooked.

What sets you apart from others?
I work harder than most people that I know. Transitioning two businesses to Denver while actively building two other startups, managing my bands, editing videos, photography, and writing screenplays while everyone is asleep doesn’t look or sound familiar to most.

What are you most proud of?
I have to say one of my proudest moments is filming my first full-length movie in Georgia during Covid19 in 2020. I wrote, starred, produced, directed and scored my film Two Bosses – The Cerulean Cut on a zero-dollar budget all during isolation; meaning I had to use what I had to create this film and could not spend a dime on production. I hired actors and bands from all over the world, spanning from Turkey, Uganda, Seattle, Toronto, Columbia, and of course Atlanta, GA. The movie is free to watch on YouTube and I’m currently working to have it picked up on a streaming service.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
Moving to Denver was the best decision I’ve made in a very long time. I love the people, and the opportunity to build better. I’m a big city kid at heart, and Denver is the perfect size to do what I love most.
