Daily Inspiration: Meet Destiny Auckerman

Today we’d like to introduce you to Destiny Auckerman.

Hi Destiny, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My name is Destiny Auckerman and I am a graduating photographer at the end of summer 2021. I always loved taking pictures as a little girl and seeing people smile. My photography business started my sophomore year of high school where I was doing family portraits and senior portraits. As a couple years went by I decided that I wanted to go to photography school and really pursue my photographer dream. Now that I am towards the end of school I am so grateful to have fulfilled what I love. As my business started growing I realized that I really enjoy portrait and wedding photography which is what I have been doing for the last year or so.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Chasing your dreams is never a smooth road. There have been lots of tears and stress within the process of doing what I love and I am sure there will be more but it is all so worth it. I think that my biggest struggle that I had to overcome was thinking everyone was better than me, I have realized that every photographer has unique and beautiful photography in their own way and that you can never give up on yourself because you are your own hardest critic. But, all of these struggles are exciting to me because I overcame them and get to do what I love.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a wedding photographer that specializes in editorial portrait photography and wedding photography. I am known for my goofy and a little bit awkward personality that makes it easier for my clients when I am taking their photographs. I am most proud of the hard work I have gone through in school and in life to make my dreams possible. I think what sets me apart from others is that I am a graduating photographer at the age of 19 with a business all set up.

How do you think about happiness?
The things that make me the happiest are traveling, being outdoors, hiking, spending time with my family and friends and seeing the people I love or am working for smile. I love all of these things because they make me feel free and like I am being my true self.
