Daily Inspiration: Meet Sherry Laidley

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sherry Laidley.

Hi Sherry, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My business partner Mandy and I worked together several years at a local skilled nursing and rehab center in their therapy department. While we were very happy there for many years, things changed when the facility was purchased by a big corporation. Resident and staff moral were depleted, many of the long-time staff left. The quality of care decreased, while expectations of staff increased to the point of being instantiable. Our love of helping others to live to their highest possible potential did not waiver.

Hence, how True Therapy Consultants of Colorado LLC was born! At my business partner’s kitchen table.

We are a therapist owned, and operated, outpatient, mobile provider of skilled Occupational and Physical therapy. We specialize in caring for patients with Dementia’s/Alzheimer’s disease but do see all diagnoses.

We attended SBA’s class on how to start a business, wrote our business plan and obtained a mentor through SCORE (we highly recommend both).

We weathered Covid and its challenges for access to our clients, Medicare changes, and fought for opportunities to educate physicians on what outpatient, mobile services are and benefits of treating senior patients in their own home environment verses outpatient clinics.

We look forward to continuing to serve and educate our community in beautiful Denver Metro area for many years to come!

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Starting a business during the pandemic was huge challenge for us.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
We see clients in their own home whether that is a residence, independent living/assisted living, and also Memory care units. We feel it is imperative to see the whole picture of the client’s level of function and care needs in their daily environment so that we may help them age in place as safely, happily, and as independently as possible. We have access to a tremendous number of resources and education for caregivers, as well as the client, as the client’s needs change with ageing.

Quality, client centered care! We strive to provide the best care possible to our client’s and their families and caregivers. We understand that remaining as independent as possible and remaining where you want to live as long as possible is a goal for all.
