Daily Inspiration: Meet Victoria Marie

Today we’d like to introduce you to Victoria Marie.

Hi Victoria, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Gray Is The New Blonde was born from a YouTube video I did about my gray hair transition from dyed hair to my natural silver/gray hair. When I made that video in July of 2013, my YouTube channel had under 100 followers but that one video garnered a lot of engagement and at that point I knew I had hit a nerve but I was preparing to move across the country to California and so in my mind I simply thought I’d hit a nerve and one day I will do something with this.

That one day came at the end of my first year in Los Angeles when I realized there was no room in Hollywood for someone like me. I have a very fit physique with long curly silver/gray hair which was never going to work in Hollywood back in 2014. Potentially it works now but back then, Hollywood did not know what to do with me. I was not going to dye my hair. I was not going to cut my hair. I was not going to gain 75lbs to fit the plump grandmother roles so I had to do something and given I had moved across the country – and sold almost everything I owned to make this move – I was not leaving. I was going to figure something out and that something was making this award winning documentary, Gray Is The New Blonde.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
A smooth road? What is that? During the five years that I made the movie there were significant challenges in many areas and there were many tears and many nights I wanted to quit but I didn’t quit obviously so no it was never smooth sailing and it was struggles every step of the way. And even after we premiered the movie. Right after we premiered the movie in January of 2020 I had set up nationwide tour that was to begin in May and when Covid hit I thought OK well let’s reschedule until July and of course we know what happened. So my movie… the entire trajectory of the movie was changed; my entire life’s’ trajectory was changed.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
As it pertains to my decision to move to California in 2013 while in my early 50’s to be an actress..,

I had always thought about acting and going to Hollywood so in my early 50’s I decided while living in Florida that I would take some acting classes to pursue this distant dream of mine and then I was invited to audition for this movie starring Burt Reynolds and I got the part!

I was a named character and I had a lot of lines and I was in many scenes and I got my IMDb page and I caught the bug! I thought well this is the sign I was waiting for, I’m leaving and leaving I did,

And and that’s how “Gray Is The New Blonde” came to be because I never had any thoughts of making a movie never ever. I never had that thought but suddenly when I was faced with a challenge I had to come up with something audacious that was going to put me on the map so to speak and GITNB was born.

Any big plans?
I am in the midst of considering several different business ventures potentially in the biohacking/menopause space.
