Today we’d like to introduce you to Melodie Essig.
Hi Melodie, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Namaste, I was born in Los Angeles. We moved to Long Island when I was a kid. I attended a private school there, “The Progressive School of Long Island.” Where I learned meditation as a kid. I have been practicing Yoga for 24 years, at least. I completed a BA at Naropa University in Boulder, CO. It was a degree in Traditional Eastern Arts with a 1,200-hour Yoga Teacher Training.
I have been teaching Yoga ever since. I first completed an apprenticeship in Evolutionary Astrology. Then I studied privately with a Jyotish (Vedic Astrology) Guru for many years. I currently have many of my students and clients. I’m grateful to be living my dharma.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I feel extremely fortunate and grateful overall but the road was certainly a bit rocky along the way. Essentially, I worked pretty hard for my accomplishments and have put in a great deal of discipline and dedication. I worked to put myself through college to pay for all of my training.
Sometimes, I even had 5 jobs, especially with being a Yoga teacher. I bit by bit invested in being able to run my business until I gradually was able to quit. I put a lot into my dream and this determination, devotion, and faith allowed me to create success.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a Professional Jyotishya and Yoga Teacher. I offer private and group lessons and mentorship. I offer Jyotish consults as well. I’m presenting at The Maharishi Parasara Conference this year in November, amongst some of the top astrologers in my field. I have an institute, Dhanya Gayatri Institute of Vedic Sciences.
I’m soon to be launching an online option to attend my courses. I also have a flower essence line. That I recently launched with one of my best friends, “Sundarī Flower Essences.” In addition, I offer top-quality essential oils from Do Terra.
