Today we’d like to introduce you to Denise Marriott.
Hi Denise, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Our family moved to Colorado over 20 years ago. My husband and I both left successful careers in the graphic design/advertising community of San Francisco. After experiencing a family emergency, we re-evaluated our lives and decided to move closer to family in Colorado. About 11 years ago, God gave me the idea of starting a professional networking group for Christian women who felt isolated due to working from home or their faith. Christian Women Business Organization began with six women meeting for lunch. From the beginning, CWBO has always been about being a Christ-centered, others-focused community where women are not overlooked. Over the past several years, we have grown not only in numbers of members, but our vision has expanded to include women who work for corporations, sales professionals, ministry founders, and executives. Amazing blessings have come from being committed to our relationships with each other.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t always been easy. I believe the easiest thing you can do in business is quit. Staying connected to your passion, mission, vision is a challenge but so well worth it.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Christian Women Business Organization (CWBO) is a proactive networking group of professional Christian women who own businesses, work for corporations and ministry founders. We desire to see each woman be successful. CWBO is an inviting community of professional Christian women who are mutually supportive in faith, family, and business. God designed us for relationship and CWBO offers you an opportunity to build relationships and your business with other professional Christian women in an inviting professional networking environment. CWBO is a place where women genuinely care about you. CWBO is a community not only for networking but where professional Christian women thrive! Our monthly networking luncheons are the heart of the initial professional and personal introduction. We believe women thrive when they are involved in and committed to each other’s successes. Businesses also grow and opportunity flourishes, where Jesus Christ is the central focus.
What were you like growing up?
I come from a strong entrepreneurial heritage. My grandfather dabbled in many different businesses. I always knew growing up that he believed in me. I have a card sitting on my desk he wrote in 1987 congratulating me on my career success. He passed away many years ago, but I still feel connected to him.
