Inspiring Conversations with Dr. Valerie LeComte

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Valerie LeComte.

Hi Dr. LeComte, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
During my medical training, I began to see the problems with the system. Patients in the hospital didn’t really get better. They just continued to get new diagnoses and medications. I looked around and thought-this isn’t how things have to be. That started my interest in more holistic therapies-nutrition, acupuncture, herbalism. After many years of learning to help myself, I finally realized I needed to use these skills to help others. Last year I decided to take the leap and start an integrative medicine practice, combining my skills from my emergency medicine training and all of the other modalities I have learned over the years.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Well, starting a business during a pandemic without any real knowledge on how to start or run a business has been interesting! I’m learning new things daily, but still struggle with things like marketing and social media.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I practice integrative medicine. My goal is to help people find the root cause of what is going on in their body, so we can fix it. I practice holistically and try to use diet and herbs when possible, but will also prescribe medication or send you to a specialist if necessary.

Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc.?
Dr. Aviva Romm has a great podcast, and overall I’m a big fan of hers! I’m a big reader so can usually be found reading a book or two about health & wellness.
