Inspiring Conversations with Amy Malone of Balanced Stone Acupuncture and Wellness

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amy Malone.

Amy Malone

Hi Amy, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
I always knew I would find purpose through helping people. From a very young age, I was drawn to a career in healthcare. I come from a long line of healthcare workers. I started that journey by becoming a nurse. I am a third-generation Registered Nurse and am proud to come from a rich background of healers and nurturers.

Although I excelled in nursing school, I felt that something was missing. I explored many options for advancing my career and improving the capacity in which I provided to patients. Initially, I thought that meant medical school, but after I discovered acupuncture and Chinese medicine by receiving treatment myself, I knew that it was exactly what I was looking for.

After completing my master’s degree in Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine, I opened my private practice. I knew that being an entrepreneur and having an independent practice would give me autonomy in the treatment style and structure I was looking to provide to the community I serve. I have now been serving the Lakewood and West metro area for over 7 years and continue to be in love with what I do.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I think that there are always some struggles for any small business owner. Things don’t always go according to plan, and sometimes there are growing pains, but I am grateful to be resilient and adaptable. I started independently funded which was difficult and at the beginning meant juggling the demands of starting my business while continuing to work as a nurse, but even though it was difficult at times, it always felt worth it.

One of the biggest challenges I have faced was navigating all of the changes and uncertainty of COVID-19, especially as a healthcare resource to patients, but I have a wonderful support system and am incredibly grateful.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Balanced Stone Acupuncture and Wellness is a clinic providing acupuncture and herbal medicine. Although we treat a wide variety of conditions and concerns, our specialty is women’s health, anxiety, and fertility support.

I consider the clinic a family practice and we accept patients throughout the lifespan. I have a passion for treating nurses and other healthcare professionals. Being a nurse and an acupuncturist gives me a unique perspective and really helps me provide well-rounded care to the people I work with.

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
I am obsessed with art. I love visiting galleries, and art museums and have surrounded myself with artists in my personal life… but I don’t make any art myself. I just feel so inspired by artists and bring that inspiration into my life, it brings me so much joy!
