Today we’d like to introduce you to Jonathan Rodriguez.
Hi Jonathan, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started working when I was 17 at Motorola, building pagers on the production line. That’s where I first learned the skills that still define my work today—micro soldering, handling motherboards, and understanding electronics at a deeper level. I spent about ten years there, gaining experience and developing a real passion for technology and repair.
After that, I moved to Miami and began working with MetroPCS and a local repair shop around 2013. That experience gave me not only hands-on repair skills but also a strong sense of how to connect with customers and understand their needs.
A few years later, I decided to take a leap and open my own repair shop in Tampa. After some time, I sold that business and relocated to Colorado, where I started small—right out of the living room in my house in 2017. I ran the business from home until 2020, when I finally opened a shop on Oak Street in Fort Collins.
It’s been a long journey, but each step taught me something new. From working in large-scale production to building my own business from scratch, every chapter has shaped how I approach my craft today.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
“It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Being Hispanic, it hasn’t always been easy — especially starting out in a new place and trying to build something from the ground up. There were times when I felt I had to work twice as hard to prove myself and earn people’s trust.
Running a small business comes with challenges, from learning how to manage finances and marketing to building a customer base from scratch every time I relocated. When I first started my shop in Colorado out of my living room, there were plenty of moments of doubt. But I kept focusing on what I do best — quality repairs, honesty, and good service — and over time, people noticed.
Looking back, I’m proud of how far I’ve come. The struggles taught me determination, patience, and resilience. They made me appreciate every small success and reminded me why I started in the first place.”
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about jjsmobilesolution?
My business specializes in repairing phones, tablets, and computers — basically anything that keeps people connected. I handle everything from cracked screens and battery replacements to advanced motherboard and micro-soldering work. What makes my shop stand out is our focus on quality and honesty. I don’t just fix devices — I take the time to explain what went wrong and help customers make the best decision for their situation.
I’m especially proud that we’ve built a reputation for trust and reliability. Many of my customers come from referrals and repeat business, which means a lot to me. I’ve always believed that good work speaks for itself, and I make sure every repair that leaves my bench reflects that standard.
Being Hispanic and having built this business from the ground up, I take pride in showing that hard work and integrity can take you far — no matter where you start. My brand isn’t about flashy marketing; it’s about community, consistency, and care.
I want readers to know that when they bring a device to my shop, they’re not just getting a repair — they’re getting personal service from someone who truly cares about helping them get back up and running.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
The diversity I have encountered some racism.
