Inspiring Conversations with Michelle Tripp of HipCat Media

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michelle Tripp.

Hi Michelle, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
I started HipCat Media in 2018 as a side gig offering public relations and communications services on a freelance basis. I was told that the remote position I held with my former company was deemed redundant after a merger with an internationally-based company, so I took the steps needed to secure clients for HipCat Media. Once COVID took hold in 2020, I was solely remote and building my business after the reduction in force by my former company.

The rest is history from that point. It has been 4 years now, which is hard to believe.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
I don’t think owning and running a business is never a smooth road.

There are unique challenges for everyone in any business. Pricing of services, finding contractors, and marketing to your ideal client, all present learning opportunities that help you define who you are and how you want to steer your business. You’re always learning and adjusting, so it’s important to be flexible.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
It’s simple. You have a story to tell. We help you tell it. Our approach is a bit unconventional compared to other integrated communications agencies, but we like it that way.

Our collective of digital storytellers, marketers, communicators, and strategists come together to tell your story in ways that help you effectively connect and interact with your audience and drive results.

How do you define success?
First of all, my family is my greatest success besides my business. I define business success by knowing I have made my clients happy, and that at the end of the day, I did my best to serve my clients. I always try to make sure I move the needle a bit every day in everything I do.
