Life and Work with Amanda Cosenza

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda Cosenza.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I grew up in Northern California. When I was 18, I received a scholarship to attend the University of South Carolina to participate in their top International Business Program. Upon graduation, I moved to Charlotte, North Carolina to work in the finance industry. After three years, I decided that a major change was due. I quit my job to travel the world one music festival at a time. I traveled to Southeast Asia, Mexico, Central America, and the UK attending over 26 festivals. Along the way, I founded a marketing agency, Festivate, and grew my personal brand, Where’s Amanda. After two years as a digital nomad, I moved to Denver after falling in love with the city.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It definitely has not been a smooth road but nothing worth having is easy! When I was quitting my job the biggest obstacle was the uncertainty. I decided to take some time to travel with greatly helped me figure out what I wanted to do next. When you don’t know what you want to do, travel helps you get out of your comfort zone and really evaluate what you want. I would highly recommend taking time off to evaluate your next moves.

Please tell us about Where’s Amanda, Festivate.
I specialize mostly in marketing, social media management, and content creation. What sets me apart is that I work in the music festival industry. This space really represents a crossover of many different niches like music, travel, lifestyle, fashion, and lifestyle. Being able to set my own schedule and owning a profitable business is what takes the most work but it is what I am most proud of.

Often it feels as if the media, by and large, is only focused on the obstacles faced by women, but we feel it’s important to also look for the opportunities. In your view, are there opportunities that you see that women are particularly well positioned for?
Yes, so many! I almost never think of my gender when it comes to seeking opportunities. If there is something you want to do just go for it!
