Life and Work with Brielle Killip

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brielle Killip.

Brielle, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
When I was in high school, I thought I would major in either math or art. Art won, specifically graphic design, but there are definitely pattern and problem-solving similarities to both. I majored in graphic communications and have been a graphic designer my entire career. I worked for a couple small design agencies before serving as the Marketing Manager for a private company for 9 years. I started Blue Linen Creative Inc. in 2015 with the goal of connecting with clients and helping them share their stories.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I know I’m pretty lucky that things have been relatively smooth. I attribute to that to really LISTENING, both to myself of what I need in my work & life to be fulfilled, and to clients and understanding what they need and how I can help.

Please tell us about Blue Linen Creative.
Through insightful collaboration and ability to balance clear communication with creativity and functional design, Blue Linen Creative provides business owners and high-level decision makers more effective communication tools giving them more industry credibility, visual clarity, and consistent marketing. Brielle’s graphic design work includes annual reports, brand identity design, websites, business communications, presentations, and brochures, and more. I like to say, if it needs to look good, I can design it. I love it when clients come back to me after a project and let me know how happy they were with our collaboration and the final results. It makes me really happy to feel like I’m a part of their inner circle and not just someone they hired for a design project.

On a personal level, I have participated in the Denver Paper Fashion Show for 4 years with by boyfriend Christopher Geissinger and friend Jennifer Garber. We were awarded 2nd place in 2019 for our creation “Flower of Life”. We design and build a fashion almost entirely out of paper. It’s fun to create something that defies what we might think paper can do.

I am proud that Blue Linen Creative Inc. is certified as a Women’s Business Enterprise (WBE) through the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC), the nation’s largest third-party certifier of businesses owned and operated by women in the US. Blue Linen Creative Inc. is also certified as a Small Business Enterprise (SBE), Minority/Women Business Enterprise (M/WBE), and Emerging Business Enterprise (EBE) through The City and County of Denver’s Division of Small Business Opportunity (DSBO).

Often it feels as if the media, by and large, is only focused on the obstacles faced by women, but we feel it’s important to also look for the opportunities. In your view, are there opportunities that you see that women are particularly well positioned for?
I’ve been involved with the group SecondAct Women. SecondAct|Women is a powerful career and lifestyle network of amazing ‘midlife questing’ women over 40 and 50+. They spur and support women with corporate careers, small business ventures, big ideas and new friendships through a curated collection of business and lifestyle events and educational programs, resources, content and community. Specifically, I think women over 40 have so much knowledge and experience to offer. Many may have taken time off from the workforce to raise children, or are finding a new stride with more confidence in the second half of their careers where they are able to provide more and feel more fulfilled. There is a huge network of strong, independent women that are there to support one another if you are willing to put in the time and make those authentic connections.
