Today we’d like to introduce you to Colleen Johnson.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
We founded ScatterSpoke to help teams improve the way they inspect their processes and practices to create a culture of continuous improvement, rapid experimentation, and change for the better. I’m blown away by what started as a project to help software teams get better at delivering and has expanded to help HR, Marketing, Sales, and more. Everyone wants to improve what they do. We help them do that.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I had my third child one year into our launch. I launched a business AND had a newborn and would have given anything for 8 hours of sleep. It forced me to pick the things I loved and wanted to spend my time on. Everything else we had to get help- and fast. We prioritized the areas we needed help and recruited the best people we had in our networks.

Please tell us about ScatterSpoke.
I’m known for helping teams delivery with quality, speed, and a pace that won’t break you. I apply systems thinking the approach to aligning lean and agile methods across the entire organization. I work with my clients to apply the right cultural and context-driven practices to create a process that sticks. I never want to “throw the book” at teams- you can google best practices. I want to understand what you need and figure out HOW to help you get there.

Who have you been inspired by?
I come from a long line of women who were STRONG AS HELL. My great-grandma, my grandmas, my mom- we all know what we want out of life and knew we had the power to make it happen. My mom also taught me how important it is to take care of yourself first- diet, exercise, family- you can’t put your best self forward until you take care or YOU.
