Today we’d like to introduce you to Dianne DeLongchamps.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I am a top Independent Consultant with Rodan + Fields and an active philanthropist in the Denver and Northern Colorado community. Within my Rodan + Fields community, I hold a leadership and mentorship role that involves coaching emerging leaders, as well as strategizing with external organizations on how to motivate the local Consultant community both in the Denver area and nationwide. Although Rodan + Fields is primarily an online business, my team and I like to stay connected with the community and host monthly events in Denver and Northern Colorado where all local Rodan + Fields consultants are invited to network and learn how to expand their sales-base.
Beyond Rodan + Fields, I am a member of Realities for Children, an organization for children who are abused and/or neglected in the Northern Colorado (NOCO) area. I am also a PEP (Power of Extended Philanthropy) member of the Women’s Foundation of Colorado, which focuses on creating more pathways to economic security for Colorado Women. Additionally, I am the VP of the Loveland Business Women’s Network and the founder of Northern Colorado Community Connect, which hosts monthly events for women in the NOCO community to develop new friendships and support systems both in business and in their personal life.
I have been married to my husband Paul for 24 years, am the mom of twin teens and two fur babies, love everything outdoors and I am a passionate global traveler.
Has it been a smooth road?
I have certainly had ups and downs in my business, but as in any business, if you keep your long term goals front and center, know “why” you are doing what you are doing, have a vision for what your life will look like when you succeed and are open to new ways of doing things along the way, you will keep moving forward to success! I think the biggest struggle with any business is making sure you stay on track and continue to complete the most important activities on a daily basis that help you grow and ultimately reach your goals. In this day and age with the internet and social media, there is so much noise coming at us all the time, and it’s easy to get off track unless you know exactly what you need to be focused on every single day.
As your business grows, you will have more and more people who need your support, which tends to pull you away from the activities you need to do to keep growing. You need to be clear on the most important activity you can do to keep your business moving forward and make that your #1 priority every day. Make sure to have a written plan that includes goals that are achievable but make you stretch, and review and adjust your plan on a monthly basis. If you don’t know exactly where you want to go and make a solid plan to get there, you don’t know where you will end up.
Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
As a leading Rodan + Fields Independent Consultant, I help women create part-time income streams from home, leveraging the Rodan+Fields business model and product so that they can do more of the things they enjoy with the people they love. I love our products because they actually deliver the results our customers are looking for, and in turn, improve people’s self-esteem, which can be life-changing for those who struggle with their complexion. Rodan+Fields is the #1 Skincare Brand in North America (Euromonitor International) because our products help our customers feel fantastic about their skin! What I am most passionate about is helping women succeed in something of their very own, that enables them to take more control of their finances, their life, and their future. When women start seeing success in something that they have created, they begin to evolve and blossom and become the person they were always meant to be but haven’t yet had the opportunity to become.
I work with an AMAZING team of entrepreneurial-minded women, called the Good Vibe Tribe, and they are all working toward a common goal of creating a better future for themselves and their families. They are incredibly abundant and supportive and truly care about others succeeding. Our business model levels the playing field for everyone; no matter what your background, your education, or your current situation if you are committed to building a business of your own, you can. Most people start our business in very part time hours, alongside their current commitments, and our team is made up of individuals from diverse backgrounds including, but not limited to, small business owners, scientists, lawyers, nurses, teachers, corporate executives, financial planners, realtors, and stay at home moms. This business is all about helping our team members succeed, and you don’t always find that in other industries. I’m most proud of the change we as a team have been able to create in our communities. Making a difference in this world, and having a positive impact on others, is the most fulfilling aspect of our business, and I love working alongside other women that make giving back a priority.
Do you have any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general? What has worked well for you?
I think establishing a network and relying on mentors is something that has set me up for success. There are a lot of amazing women out there who love helping others. Some great places to look for mentors are business networking events, chambers of commerce and the SBA. Many non-profit organizations have dynamite business women that are involved, and that has been a really wonderful avenue for me to connect with others who enjoy giving back. There are also a lot of fabulous mentors online that share information for free via Facebook, Youtube, and LinkedIn and have reasonably priced classes you can register for.
Chamber and community business networking events have worked really well for me. They are a great way to meet other business people in the community, and they are a lot of fun. Most people love helping others and can often connect you with the right person, but it’s important to find out how you can help them as well! When you attend a networking event dress for success, have your business cards readily available, and have a clear goal of what type of people you want to meet. Everyone is there to network, so don’t be afraid to introduce yourself, shake some hands and make some new friends.
