Today we’d like to introduce you to Elijah Trujillo
Elijah, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I always say I’m an artist first, I make art. As a visual artist my love for creating takes many forms of what I do. However my main focus is putting my creativity in my clothing brand Conserved Extrovert. I design and make all of my own clothes at the moment. Many of my designs being hand drawn. Not limiting myself within one media am a student of many and love to apply them all in the ways I like.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I have put myself in bad positions in regards to the financial stress one goes through when living as a full time creative. But w experience and being open to whatever my talents could be used for I’ve always managed to make it work, my love for what I do outweighs anything burden that may come. And I trust my process, there has been many pay off and incentives. Most not even being money.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a self-taught artist who applies my love for art to creating fashion garments. I am known for a unique style of making clothes that involves many media’s such as screen printing, hand dying, and basically whatever I envision. I design and make all of my own pieces. Under my brand I do custom commissions within the fashion realm.
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
I got a couple. Do what you love, and love what you do, keep your day job, and to dive in to things with an open mind.
