Life and Work with Hayley Ulmer and Jake Ingolia

Today we’d like to introduce you to Hayley Ulmer and Jake Ingolia.

Hayley and Jake, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
We actually met through photography! We both pursued photography straight out of high school and started dating around that same time. Starting out we shot mainly portraits and high school graduation photos but quickly began to explore the world of couple photography. Wedding photography intimidated us, in the beginning, to be honest. But with the coaxing of some good friends who were getting married at the time and working under the leadership of some incredibly talented photographers, we launched into the world of weddings and have never looked back! There’s just something so breathtakingly beautiful about getting to tell someone’s love story through photos and to capture the most special day of their lives. We’re truly honored to get to do what we love and are passionate about every day and not only that but we are able to pursue our dreams hand in hand.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
We’re blessed to say we’ve only felt support through this journey. It’s never been easy and the hustle is REAL but if you’re passionate about what you do and you keep putting the work in daily to pursue your dream it will come true. It’s a lot of late nights and losing sleep. Nothing worth pursuing ever comes easy; we won’t sugar coat that. There have been many tears shed and days we’ve felt like giving up, but the people we’ve met along this journey, the connections we’ve made through this job, and the pure joy on people’s faces when you show them their wedding gallery makes it all worth it.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Wander Love Photography – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
We offer a wide variety of photography but we specialize in weddings, couples, and love stories! We offer a unique perspective to the world of photography because we work as a team and we’re a couple ourselves so oftentimes that makes other couples feel more at ease with us. Our biggest hope is that everyone who books a session or a wedding with us feels like they just gained two new best friends rather than just photographers!

Are there any apps, books, podcasts or other resources that you’ve benefited from using?
Honeybook would be our biggest recommendation for photographers or other business owners! It saves us half of our work time and keeps us organized and on track, so we never double book or miss important meetings. Seriously a life saver!!
