Life and Work with Heidi Marie Dietz

Today we’d like to introduce you to Heidi Marie Dietz.

Heidi Marie, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started working in the Health & Wellness Industry after being diagnosed with a rare chronic disease. After many years of medication, invasive procedures, and finally a major surgery, I realized that I wanted to heal my body holistically. I began regular acupuncture, massage, and chiropractic treatments as well as incorporating essential oils and Chinese herbs… the results were amazing! I was so excited about how great I felt that I dedicated my life to helping others. I started working for the Acupuncture clinic that, in essence, saved my life and began my journey into becoming a Plant-Based Nutrition Consultant. Once my coaching practice started taking off, I was offered the amazing opportunity to start teaching monthly Plant-Based Cooking classes in Denver at the Human Universal Education Center. I was then asked to lead a private FaceBook group @PlantBasedandLovingIt with now almost 30,000 members worldwide. I teach live nutrition and cooking classes every week. Helping people with their diet and improving health is my passion! When I am not coaching or teaching cooking classes, I am either teaching kids yoga at my daughter’s school or being my son’s biggest fan at his baseball games.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Running a small business takes patience and hard work. The key is doing what you love, to have the passion and devotion to make your dream come true. Unlike working in the corporate environment where you have a salary (which I did for over 10 years), running a small business you may have profitable times and not so profitable times, but budgeting for the slower time allows you to ride the wave. Another important thing to remember is to make sure you have a work/life balance. While working your tail off is necessary for a small start-up business, allowing yourself self-care is just as important. Spending time with family and having a strong grounding meditation practice is just as important to me as working in my business.

Please tell us about New Vibes Health & Acupuncture.
I am a Certified Whole Food Plant Nutrition Consultant/Culinary Teacher and Marketing Director at New Vibes Health & Acupuncture and a Kids Yoga Teacher. I help clients with their health and dietary needs through Plant-Based Nutrition Coaching. I help clients understand the nutritional value of the foods they are consuming and help them make healthier choices. In my Nutrition Program, I teach individual hands-on cooking classes so that my clients know how to prepare healthy, delicious foods for themselves and their families. I also teach monthly cooking classes at the Human Universal Education Center to the public where students learn how to make a variety of dishes and are able to ask questions, engage in conversation, and eat the meals that we have prepared in class. I truly love to teach these classes because food brings people together and it gets the conversation started about how the food we eat directly affects our health.

Our clinic, New Vibes Health & Acupuncture, owned by Jordan New LAc., supports our clients/patients by utilizing many different healing modalities. Helping people who suffer from chronic pain to depression and anxiety to digestion problems with Traditional Chinese Medicine and Plant-Based Nutrition really makes us stand out because we are addressing the root causes of diseases, not just focusing on the symptoms or masking the pain. We are working on the energetic and cellular level to fix and even reverse the issue.

In my free time, I teach Kids Yoga at my daughter’s elementary school in an after school program. In the summer, I also teach at a daycare for children who have been exposed to addiction. Teaching kids are such a joy for me, witnessing children be able to self regulate their emotions through breath work makes my heart smile!

Often it feels as if the media, by and large, is only focused on the obstacles faced by women, but we feel it’s important to also look for the opportunities. In your view, are there opportunities that you see that women are particularly well positioned for?
Women have amazing opportunities in any industry. I don’t think there should be any limitations on what a woman can do. I tell my daughter and my son the same thing, “Show up every day as the best version of yourself, never give up on your dreams, work hard, and be kind.”
