Today we’d like to introduce you to Jenny Garland RN, BSN.
Jenny, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Hey there, I’m Jenny. Most days you can find me at Colorado Beauty RN in Castle Rock, helping others feel more confident and radiant. I’m a wife to my hunky husband Brad and a mom to three hilarious daughters. I’m a registered nurse, makeup junkie, lover of fashion, research guru, and a woman who wants to look and feel her best. I change my hair cut and style all the time, will do anything to avoid cooking, and watch way too much of the Real Housewives.
I believe that non-surgical treatments (just like a new outfit or haircut) can help you feel great from the inside out. Who doesn’t want to feel more confident and beautiful? I love to share the latest and greatest techniques with patients and other injectors. The more artistic and safe injectors we have, the better!
Has it been a smooth road?
I took a roundabout way to end up where I am today! I grew up loving beauty but wasn’t sure how I would make that into a career so I kept it as a hobby and went to college. I initially got a bachelor and master’s degree in counseling psychology before having kids. Everything I learned in those programs helps me daily to form and maintain healthy relationships with patients. After my three daughters were born, I went back to school for nursing because I love people and I love procedures! I worked in various high acuity hospital and community settings as a nurse but always found it very challenging to balance the two things I love: work and family. I adored my patients but would come home exhausted and was missing out on my family life. I knew there had a to be a way to balance my life but I didn’t know how.
At that time, I didn’t even realize nurses did injectable treatments like Botox and fillers! I noticed a few forehead wrinkles that were bothering me and I decided to give Botox a try. I talked to the nurse who did my Botox about her job and realized I might really like to do something like that. I kept my full time job and dipped my toe into the aesthetics world working one or two days a week at a local med spa. I am so thankful for that opportunity! I learned about the industry, met wonderful people, sharpened my skills, and discovered my calling.
My advice for young women starting their journey is to stay the course and keep working hard because nothing happens overnight. If you really want to be in this industry, you have to hustle and grind. Take that job that has you working nights and weekends if it gives you experience. The only way to get great is to study, practice, and learn from your mistakes. Now I train injectors but I still put in countless hours studying on my own and taking advanced classes. You can never learn enough!
I’m in this business because I love helping women feel great about themselves!
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Colorado Beauty RN – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
You can see examples of my work on Instagram @coloradobeautyrn. I specialize in refreshing and enhancing a woman’s features in a very natural way. Oftentimes, patients tell me that their loved ones tell them they look like they just went on vacation or slept for week. My favorite is when you can’t pinpoint what treatments someone had but you know they look phenomenal! It’s amazing the confidence that can come along with injectables and medical grade treatments.
You can see all of the services I offer in Castle Rock on my website: www.coloradobeautyrn.com
I am known for being a caring, honest, and professional service provider. I never up-sell and I tell patients “Nope, you don’t need that” all the time. I look at the face as a whole and talk to patients about ways to help them appear more balanced and natural.
What sets me apart from others is my drive to constantly learn more and improve my skills. I share my business model, injection techniques, successes and failures with other injectors. Even those five minutes away from my office! The one thing I don’t love about this industry is that sometimes it can be cut-throat and I don’t think it should be that way. I come from a place of abundance, not scarcity. If we all share what we know and what works and doesn’t, the industry as a whole grows. There is plenty of business for everyone!
Are there any apps, books, podcasts or other resources that you’ve benefited from using?
Oh gosh, yes! I use Michael Hyatt’s Full Focus Planner to stay organized, on-task, and to celebrate daily wins. I listen to a gazillion podcasts about business and self-development. Some of my favorites are “The School of Self-Mastery” and “Goal Digger.” I try to surround myself with optimistic people who are smarter than I am and people who take risks. I disconnect from work when I get home and put down my phone so I can be with my husband and daughters. I also love the Club Pilates studio in Castle Rock which helps keep me strong and mentally balanced. I knit and sew (don’t ask me to cook, though) to relax and create.
