Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Soderberg.
Jessica, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My path to becoming a Nutrition Consultant was a bit “unconventional.” I worked in the corporate world for over 17 years. There was a continuous voice that kept telling me to explore my passions. I finally listened to that voice and completed my Nutrition Consultant Certification through Bauman College.
“Health” has always been a focus in my life, and I realize now that I didn’t know exactly what that meant for my body, mind and spirit…until recently. And, I’m still discovering many elements of it. I have experienced the power of healing through nutrition, how it can help influence overall health and regain energy and vitality. And, I have seen how poor nutrition can contribute to suffering and deterioration.
I believe that people can feel their best when they lead a holistic lifestyle that considers whole foods, herbs, supplements, mindfulness and physical activity.
I focus on prenatal nutrition, as I believe that what we put into our body can not only support a healthy pregnancy, it can also greatly influence the long-term health of growing baby.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Life is not often how we envisioned it to be…it’s an emotional ride and one you cannot predict.
Getting to the point of becoming a Nutrition Consultant and starting my own business has certainly had bumps. It would have been easy to stay put in that corporate job and have security and benefits, especially when building a family. I’m glad I didn’t. Listening to that inner voice has certainly taken me on an emotional ride, and it has also brought me great joy. And, the feeling of knowing I’m on the right path, that I can positively influence the lives of others and put some goodness out into this world.
My advice for others is to let that voice in, be smart about when to take action, and find joy in what you do. We live in a time where we can define so much of the future, for ourselves and our culture and you can make a difference!
Please tell us about Nourished Beginnings.
I am a holistic Nutrition Consultant, focusing on Prenatal Nutrition.
I work with Mama’s to be, providing them with:
Comprehensive education on exactly what their body needs during pregnancy.
Expert recommendations for foods and supplements to nourish their pregnant body and growing baby.
Education on how healthy eating and a holistic lifestyle can reduce the risk of birth defects, gestational diabetes and other pregnancy issues, as well as positively influence the health of their baby as it grows.
Tools and tips to easily integrate whole foods and mindfulness, during their pregnancy — and beyond.
A community of other health-conscious Mamas, on a similar journey.
I’m honored to be working with women navigating this miraculous journey and the babies they are bringing into this world. I strongly believe in preventative healthcare and that starts right here.
There’s a wealth of academic research that suggests that lack of mentors and networking opportunities for women has materially affected the number of women in leadership roles. Smart organizations and industry leaders are working to change this, but in the meantime, do you have any advice for finding a mentor and building a network?
I find that I have many mentors, in various areas of my life. Seek out people you relate to and can have deep conversation with. Build genuine relationships. Mentors are abundant if we are open.
