Today we’d like to introduce you to Jordana Chambers.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I got started in the fitness industry because my mom was actually a bodybuilder growing up. As a kid, I always admired her discipline when it came to eating clean and working out and as I became older, I naturally followed in her footsteps!
I have never competed, but I’ve always had a huge passion for being some sort of the change in the world and I thought, why not help change people’s lives while doing what I love?! (Exercising) So, that’s how I became a personal trainer!
Nothing makes me happier than to see someone’s whole life change because of fitness- and to be a part of that change, makes me feel like I’m fulfilling my life’s purpose.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
No, it hasn’t been a smooth road. People look at my Instagram or see me in person and just assume I’ve always looked this way and that fitness just comes easy for me when that is far from the truth!
Healthy eating and working out is a challenge for even the fittest of people. I’ve had to learn A LOT of discipline over the years and I’ve had to find my “why” for doing what I do. Without it, I would’ve quit a long time ago. I, too, struggle day in and day out with getting my butt up and going to the gym or choosing something healthy for my body over something I’m craving, like a greasy cheeseburger. My advice to anyone first starting out is, have patience with yourself! No one is perfect at something they are just starting, and you are no exception! But don’t give up! You may not see the results you want right away, but anything worth having takes TIME! Keep going! I promise you will get there!
Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I am a Personal Trainer. I’ve worked with so many people, but I specialize in weight loss/postpartum recovery/fitness! What I’m most proud of and what I believe sets me apart is I’m not huge on the scale like many trainers. I can’t tell you how many times when I first started training, that I weighed my clients every week like I was taught, and how discouraged they would get for not meeting their weekly goal. It’s unrealistic!! I focus on eating clean, whole foods that are going to serve your body and not work against your body and goals, and also creating new, healthy eating habits- it all lies in your habits! If you stick to this, you will naturally get to your goals 🙂
Often it feels as if the media, by and large, is only focused on the obstacles faced by women, but we feel it’s important to also look for the opportunities. In your view, are there opportunities that you see that women are particularly well positioned for?
I honestly feel as though women are positioned for any opportunity they put their mind to! Do you want to be a welder? Do it girl. Do you want to be a firefighter? You got this! Do you want to cut down trees? Be the best dang tree cutter around! I think many women don’t realize the power that lies within them to achieve anything they really want to.
