Life and Work with Kynsi Saye

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kynsi Saye.

Kynsi, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I majored in Merchandising from Colorado State University. After graduation, I chose to “Find My Path”, stay in Colorado and build a brand based off of the Colorado outdoors and “active lifestyle”. The action/snow sports industry and the “laid-back” feel of fashion in Colorado fascinates me and I wanted to incorporate that into my clothing. I create and design all the graphics myself and I have a friend print them in Denver. I like to keep it as local as possible! My goal is to inspire people to pursue their wildest dreams and “Find Their Path!”

From the day that I launched my website to the present moment, I have sold my clothing at FibArk in Salida, Colorado, fashion events in Denver, Gold Rush Days in Leadville, Holiday Bazaars and on the mountain in Winter Park, just to name a few. I have had the opportunity to sell in some of the cutest boutiques in Breckenridge, Loveland and Lone tree and I have done some custom logo design work for dance companies, gyms and construction companies. Kompass Apparel has led me to so many different avenues and has pushed me far beyond my comfort zone.

Has it been a smooth road?
As with all things, there have been many ups and downs along the way. Some struggles I have run into are overpaying for products, misinterpreting my target market and what they are and aren’t going to buy, which has led to being overstocked at certain times and understocked at some of the busiest markets. It’s a challenge to know how much inventory to get, when to restock and what products to restock. One of my goals is to sell in boutiques around Colorado and it is always a challenge to find the right boutique at the right time.

My advice for young women starting their journey is to believe in themselves and trust the process. There are days when I feel like Kompass is going no where and I wonder if I should keep pursuing it or look for a different job but then there are days when I am so busy fulfilling orders and restocking retailers that I couldn’t imagine doing anything different. Starting out is hard, and it doesn’t get easier but you just get better and stronger. Pursue what makes you happy because it doesn’t get much better than waking up everyday doing what you love and building your dream. The money will follow.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Kompass Apparel – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
