Life and Work with Laura Brown

Today we’d like to introduce you to Laura Brown.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Laura. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I began my work doing intuitive tarot readings after finding my first tarot deck on the shelf of a bookstore. I have always been naturally intuitive (it’s the Pisces in me!). My gifts sky-rocketed, however, when worked with through the lens of the tarot.

Combining my intuition with the tarot provided scarily accurate readings to my friends and family, it also served to inspire my healing journey. It was this healing journey and the intuitive tools that I learned which helped me move beyond being a single mama living off less than 12k per year and government assistance to building a successful business that supports me and those I serve in the most unimaginably magical ways.

In less than six months after beginning to work with that first tarot deck, I started building my business offering readings to others online. Within a year, I stopped pursuing my degree in International Relations and began offering intuitive tarot readings full time.

I grew to see intuitive tools such as tarot, Shamanic ceremonies, energy work, and NLP, to name just a few, not as an enhancement product to life but a necessary function of whole living.

I struggled for years with major depressive disorder, anxiety, and carried around a litany of limiting beliefs around worth and deservingness. All of which traditional talk-therapy didn’t seem to address on a level that offered me sustainable emotional freedom. It was intuitive tools AND traditional talk therapy that finally got me to the state of inner and outer wellbeing that I had been seeking.

I soon moved myself and my son from our native Michigan to Salem, Massachusetts. Here I studied under Laurie Cabot and began formal intuitive and energetic medicine training. Once I moved to Colorado, I started my Shamanic training with Pixie Lighthorse and received the Light Codes from Ahtayaa Leigh. I also began studying traditional coaching and counseling methods that allowed me to begin formally marrying together my intuitive tools with traditional healing modalities. This unique blend of tools was the secret sauce that gave me access to a life I never dreamed possible. I knew I was not the only one who was looking for something like this.

I have built my business alongside my family-raising three beautiful kids, building a thriving relationship, and carving out space for my pursuits. It has not always been easy, but it has always been worth it. Many told me 18 years ago that I was crazy to give up pursuing my degree to take this route, but I knew better. I knew then that the way these tools transformed my life was something others needed. I believed in myself enough to choose to keep putting one foot in front of the other day in and day out.

It’s one of the best choices I’ve made.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Nothing about this path has been easy! I say this jokingly, of course, because there have been many amazing moments, but it also has been pretty challenging. I started all of this when I had very little in terms of both inner and outer resources. I fought tooth and nail to succeed because I knew that this was what I was meant to do. And because of this, there was never a question about doing what I needed to see this business succeed.

To me, it was about more than what we typically see as successful. The more that I held space for others and witnessed their journey, the more I realized this work was vital to living our most delicious life.

What I believe that we, as guides and change-makers need to understand is that the journey is meant to be a little challenging. The challenges are how we grow. Facing and moving through challenges is when we prove to ourselves just what we are capable of accomplishing. Expect that there will be hiccups but believe enough in yourself to keep moving forward regardless. Building something from the ground up takes time, dedication, and an almost crazy-solid belief in the self.

Please tell us about Intuitive Alchemy.
My work today centers around helping those who are in transition as well as those struggling with trauma.

My tarot readings help to illuminate the path ahead and offer insight into what is happening and why so we can make empowered choices. Intuitive Medicine Sessions marries intuitive tools with traditional healing modalities so that we can find sustainable emotional freedom and wellbeing. The Elevate mentorship helps us to shed the layers of conditioned beliefs and provides a container of accountability towards building the next great chapter of our life.

What sets my work apart from others is that I approach all matters from an intuitive as well as a psychological perspective. Everything from wondering where our relationship is headed, to building a purpose centered career, to healing from trauma from our childhood can best be addressed when we invite the whole self to the experience. This approach means that our body, mind, emotions, and spirit/energy. When all facets of the self are addressed, this means that we are moving forward and making decisions from a whole place. This stops us from being snapped back in place by the unaddressed parts of our being. This sense of inner holism then reflects in what we see around us in the external. And it is absolutely, unbelievably mind-blowing.

I am incredibly proud to have built a business around helping others to remember who they really are. To step into full ownership of their lives and believe in themselves again. I am proud to help others understand the truth that they do not need to settle for just “good enough.” They do not need to resign themselves to learning to live with their pain and trauma. Instead, they learn they can heal and let it go and experience what they are capable of without the weight of both holding them down. I am so proud to have built a business that is in the business of helping others wake to the magic and deliciousness that they deserve in this life.

Who have you been inspired by?
I am inspired by any woman who is out there working her ass off to become the best version of herself that she can be. Not for her children (though they benefit) or for their partners (though they benefit too) but for themselves. Because they know they deserve to be here. They deserve to take up space, to be witnessed, to be heard, to leave their mark. And I bow in the most profound reverence for those who painstakingly show up with the fullest of presence every day. Who stand up and show up even with tears in their eyes or hearts that are distracted.
I celebrate all women who hope that the hard work of putting their self care-their wellbeing and their vision at the top of the list, serves as an example to their sons and daughters to do the same for themselves.

There were many times on my journey that I wanted to crawl into the fetal position and to give up. I know so many women out there are feeling that right now. And I celebrate every one of you because it can be debilitating. And so, for each of you standing strong and getting yourself back up and carving out that time to do what you came here to do-I honor you.
