Today we’d like to introduce you to Liz Lowe.
Hi Liz, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am a model and designer based in the Denver area. I entered the modeling scene in 2009 while attending college. I didn’t even know how to walk in heels at the time but I knew I wanted to create art through photography and fashion. I modeled for creative classes, did runway shows, and worked alongside some amazing people. As I got older and started a family I realized I was looking for a little more. I have always loved shooting with bold and unique pieces & props. One day, I noticed a few materials that could be repurposed into something beautiful, so I created my first headpiece. I noticed more things I could repurpose, and kept creating, which prompted me to establish Fawn Fabrications in 2017. Since then, I have had the opportunity to take my designs on the runway, have them printed in magazines, and see others wear them for their own events. I find joy, not only in creating pieces and modeling them, but in seeing others feel amazing in them, as well. Currently, I am a model with the Denver-based international agency, High Class Elites. I model a variety of concepts, not just my designs, and love networking with new people. Denver has so much to offer in terms of fashion, design, and art. I’m always eager to see what the next shoot, next runway show, and next event has to offer.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I don’t believe anything in life can be a smooth road even if all the cards are stacked in your favor. Denver is a smaller fashion scene overall compared to other large cities, although it is growing rapidly. For a long time I had been a freelance model, which comes with its own expected challenges. Focusing on designing and motherhood in addition to modeling means photoshoots, fashion shows, and events require a considerable amount of time and planning compared to the start of my modeling experience. I am lucky to have support in my life which does make it easier. Another challenge is that I have yet to be able to work with many other creatives in the area I’ve been eager to network and collaborate with.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Fawn Fabrications was established in 2017 as a means to showcase headpieces and accessories created out of a variety of repurposed and new materials. What makes my pieces unique are the repurposed components. The Bullet Crowns are typically a floral style and always incorporate bullet casings for an original look. Real antlers and pheasant feathers are also featured in many of my pieces. The Tech Crowns are made with repurposed circuit boards, motherboards, and various finds. They are each unique and unconventional, but wearable. The Abandoned line features pieces with a combination of tech, casings, and florals/greenery, to display an overgrown aesthetic. Each line also has accessories. I currently run an Etsy shop to feature the items available for purchase. I accept cryptocurrencies, as well. My goal is to make others standout and feel incredible.
Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
My advice is to just be yourself. Do what makes you happy and seek out the experiences you love. Network and find who you connect with best, cultivate those relationships, and most importantly- have fun!!
