Life and Work with Lysiane Henderson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lysiane Henderson.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I am Lysiane. Born right outside of Paris, I have always had a passion for style and fashion. After studying Psychology, the importance of self-care became undeniable to me, and so I realized that style, fashion, beauty, and self-care are all achievable in unison with one another. With the support of my family and loving husband, I decided to merge my passions and pursue a cosmetology license at the Aveda Institute of Denver.

Upon obtaining my license, I completed an extensive apprenticeship program at Matthew Morris Salon and Skincare. Following two years of training with some of the best stylists in the industry, I spent time building what is to me the most amazing clientele I could have ever dreamed of.

I am following my dream of creating a salon filled with kindness, love, and beauty. While I provide a vast range of services, I specialize in balayage, color, cutting, and curly hair.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been smoother than bumpy of a road but I’ve definitely faced some challenges over the last couple of years. Leaving my first salon was terrifying! They were and some still are such a big support system for me… my first year on my own, I had to really make myself believe that I could do it. I have never considered myself to be business oriented. Turning a passion into a business is stressful but it’s also incredibly rewarding! I am still learning every day how to improve my work. I think that my biggest challenges have been finding the time to work on the business side of Hair by Lysiane and who to surround myself with to stay motivated, inspired, and challenged.

Please tell us about Hair by Lysiane.
I am a hairstylist operating out of a studio in cherry creek north. While I provide a wide variety of hair services, I specialize in balayage, hair cutting, and curly hair. My biggest pride is the culture that I have built within my studio. I always say that I’m in the business of people first and having beautiful hair is the cherry on top. I want to believe that what sets me apart is the rapport I build with my clients. My goal is always to make whoever is in my chair feel safe, important, cared for, and beautiful!

Are there any apps, books, podcasts or other resources that you’ve benefited from using?
I get a lot of inspiration from social media. I follow people who inspire me, whether professional or personal. I love Hannah Bronfman for her way of living. She’s all about clean beauty, healthy eating, and physical activity. I also really like Marianna Hewitt because she’s built such an awesome business and is around my age. Jen Atkin is my favorite hairstylist to follow because she is insanely successful and also keeps it real at all times! And of course, Chrissy Teigen, because she has a great way of balancing mom life and work and she’s hilarious.
