Today we’d like to introduce you to Nisa Sedaghat.
Hi Nisa, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My story. What’s my story? What an interesting question. I feel like I’ve had so many lives already. I grew up in Boulder, Colorado. My father is Persian, my mom is European, and so I was faced at a young age with the fact that I was different than my peers. Do you know the movie “My Big Fat Greek Wedding?” I felt like that girl. And in feeling that from such a young age—that sense of being different, of trying to not only understand who I was in my adolescence and upbringing, but who I was and would be in the world—I truly became a seeker.
A seeker of knowledge, of connection, of other cultures, of other languages, and of other people. I was fascinated with the world and traveling and foreign lands and, looking back, I can see it was a way for me to better understand myself. It would also ultimately become this beautiful way for me to connect with other souls, share their stories, and heal them.
Ever since I was little, I felt things very, very deeply. Now that I’ve gone through “the work” and my “journey”—I say this also knowing that there is always more work and more journeying to do—I’ve learned that I am an empath, an intuitive, and a channel, and have other gifts that are not commonly recognized or accepted by society. This caused me to have a lot of pain growing up because I could see and feel things so deeply that most people do not. I could hear and feel the pain and stories of others, I could feel their secrets, I could hear their worries—it was a lot for a child.
I remember my mom telling me that when I was six years old, I told her that “I am an old soul.” I remember this too. Not really a common thing for a six-year-old to say, is it? But I am.
So feeling things so deeply—the good and the pain—made me want to heal it all. This journey of being a healer—all of us healers have been through a lot and want to make that process easier for those in our shoes, or otherwise if we can. I also went through a lot of health stuff from an early age, it truly consumed a lot of my energy, finances, etc. It was exhausting. And I too, like all of us, have had my own traumas. So if I could make that journey of healing, self-discovery, and understanding just a bit easier and more expansive and aligned for others, I wanted to.
So I went to college as pre-med to explore “healing” in the modern Western world, but after a life-changing trip to Italy my junior year—one that got me back in touch with my soul—and having the Western medicine system fail me so many times, and not provide answers or resolutions, I left that pursuit of medical school for other paths. In college, I began to travel the world and that is when I felt like I was first fully able to understand myself, my culture and heritage, what it means to be human. And, that healing, growth, and expansion come in many forms.
One of the biggest ones, for me personally, has been travel. I was also exposed to and immersed in many “alternative,” (according to the Western world), yet ancient healing traditions and modalities I adapted through my travels throughout the world, (specifically Asia, Southeast Asia, India). I was able to heal a lot of my physical ailments and autoimmune issues through these, and also in doing so, myself and my soul.
So I fell in love with travel, the world, people, culture, and stories. I think it’s through losing ourselves in other places in other languages and other lands in other lives that we truly begin to know who we are stripped away from all that life and society have told us to be. There is so much healing in that process—the process of “unlearning.” Travel has also shown me that we are not so different from one another.
We’re all human, we all want love we all have beating hearts we all want to be understood and connect. So that’s how my career and travel began I worked in travel and food media as a writer and photographer and consultant for about eight years. Looking back, what I realized I truly loved about it all, what that connection—the process of connecting with humans and truly seeing their souls, hearing their stories, providing a safe space for them to be their true selves. It all comes together full circle when we look back, doesn’t it?
Fast forward to early 2020, when COVID took the world by storm, and I felt a huge impending shift coming for me. I was living in NYC at the time, unfulfilled, needing to heal, to disconnect, to reconnect. I moved back to Colorado at the end of March and deep dove into healing, (yet again). I reconnected with many of the gifts I’d learned to shut off; and as the world went through a collective shift and “awakening” too, I felt my gifts grow incredibly strong. I knew I needed to create a space to help others heal as I’d been able to heal myself. I knew the world needed this more than it needed me to tell and share stories from around the world—the world needed me to help it heal.
And again, looking back, I realized this was something I had been doing all along—in my work, with my peers, and with my friends and loved ones. And so, all those winding paths—that may not always make sense at the time—entwined together and led me here to this work as an Intuitive, Soul Empowerment Mentor, and Energy Healer. So, that’s how “Seek Ayla” was officially born. It was such an intuitive, natural, innate process that I let unfold on its own timeline.
Today, the community has grown to nearly 1,000 incredible women since its beginnings last August. My work is all about guiding women back to their authentic selves and a soul-aligned and expansive life. Through 1-to-1 healing/guidance/tarot + energy reading sessions, 1×1 mentorship programs, group mentorship containers, the podcast, and virtual (soon-to-be in person) retreats and workshops, the women in our community are able to enter into a space where they can be their true, unapologetic selves, heal, grow, expand, and step into their highest selves and dreams.
My purpose on this earth is to connect souls, to share stories, to hold space, to heal, and to facilitate growth and expansion, and support women in pursuing lives that are truly in alignment with their souls. It is truly soul work for me and incredibly rewarding. I feel honored to hold this space for my clients and our community.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Feeling an outsider in this world, health issues, and pressured into adapting my life to what others wanted for me, rather than what I wanted for myself.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?

We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
Something surprising would be that I speak five languages, I’ve been to 28 countries, and as an intuitive and a channel medium I receive messages in a visual format and auditory format. This means that I receive “messages” and guidance as a “knowing” in my body or as vivid visuals that translate into a message in my mind.
It’s something that may sound a bit “woo-woo” to most people but we are all innately intuitive beings and we have been conditioned to not realize that. So, when we take the time to really connect with ourselves, our souls, and whatever higher purpose, Spirit, or source we believe in, we’re all able to access that. Many of us access this state through the things that light us up and make us feel alive—dance, painting, art, music, travel—so pay attention next time what you’re doing when you get those for what “inspiring ideas” or “downloads.” We’re just at different levels and paths of our journey, and I think that’s what makes it so exciting.
