Today we’d like to introduce you to Sadie McAdams.
Sadie, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
A little over a year ago, I decided I was done with the corporate nine to five lifestyle. My husband and I thought it would be a good time for us to move back to our hometown here in Denver and take some time off to travel.
This is when we founded our blog, Fork & Path. Initially, it was a food travel blog focusing on uncommon foodie destinations. We spent 2019 traveling around the world, exploring different food cultures (and eating as much as we could!). Some of our favorite spots from the year are Swedish Lapland, Transylvania, and Mérida. During our time at home, we started slowly eating our way through the Denver Food scene. This January, we switched our focus to being a Denver Food Blog. So we’ve spent most of this year getting reacquainted with Denver restaurants.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I don’t think any road is a smooth one! I have definitely had a lot of struggles during my journey and I anticipate having many more in the future. Part of my goal in starting Fork & Path was to teach myself new skills such as social media marketing, website design, and photography. I have made many mistakes while learning these skills. I’ve dealt with rejection, familial disapproval, and smaller obstacles such as forgetting to clean my camera lens and having spots all over my photos!
One of the biggest challenges was (and is) running a business with my husband. Working in this situation can easily be all-consuming, so it’s an ongoing effort to ensure it doesn’t take over every aspect of our lives. My advice for young women starting their journey is to be flexible. Everything changes (including you), so embrace that. Be kind to yourself, make time for yourself, and don’t be afraid to take some risks.
Please tell us about Fork & Path.
Right now, my primary focus is running Fork & Path. Our mission is to provide honest and unbiased content about local food here in Denver. We’re always on the hunt for craveable eats, delicious drinks, and trailblazing concepts.
As a rule, we never accept money from restaurants or guarantee posts. This preserves the integrity of our content. You can trust that everything on our site is something that we actually love. I’ve also recently started doing some freelance photography for local restaurants and for blogs.
Who have you been inspired by?
There is an endless list of women who have inspired me from my grandmother to Mary Wollstonecraft to Abby Wambach. I was lucky enough to have grown up in a family of strong, smart women and have always felt that I can do anything I set my mind to. Recently, I have been most inspired by Sorelle Amore (for her stunning photography and refreshing attitude on life), Jane Ko (for the ultimate food blogger inspo), and Kezia Neusch (for mindful & healthy living).
