Life and Work with Samantha Hodge

Today we’d like to introduce you to Samantha Hodge.

Samantha, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Over 15 years of age, I started working in the fashion industry. I fell in love with fabrics, how clothes were made to fit body types and how happy people felt after I dressed them for a special event or just everyday life. From that point on, I was determined to open up my own boutique and put my stamp on the industry.

After a move from Colorado back to my home state of Michigan, I opened up my first boutique that ran successfully for about two years.

After taking the trek back to Colorado, I closed my boutique to start a family.

At that time, I saw that Colorado had a need for a boutique where women who were successful goal-driven boss babes could find pieces that could go from a day at the office to after-work drinks.

A boutique where “modesty became the new sexy” and that’s when I opened up Le Petit Reve Boutique.

Le Petit Reve means “The Little Dream” in French! The name is so fitting because opening up this boutique has been a dream for me for so many years after I closed down my first. It also is everything my business stands for “We make shopping a Dream”. We make our client’s shopping experience pleasant and super affordable. We give our DENVER clients the option for free local delivery and other cool perks for our worldwide client base.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
My journey to this happy ending was a bumpy one. The fashion industry will swallow you whole when you are a newbie. If you do not have tough skin and a strong set of goals, you will not make it.

My advice is to have a five-year plan no business starts off successful right off the bat. Persistence and faith in yourself is key. Be focused and do not listen to any negativity.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Le Petit Reve – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
So, I specialize in finding fun one-of-a-kind pieces that fit every body type. I also pride myself on having pieces in my boutique that are sophisticated and appropriate to transition from work to date night to a night out whether you are adding one piece to the outfit that is taking away one piece.

In this fashion era where everything is about skin skin skin and showing everything, you got Le Petit Reve clothing restores the imagination.

I think this is what I’m most proud of about my brand: the piece are timeless and every one no matter what body type be, stands out as soon as they walk in the room.

What advice would you give to someone at the start of her career?
Be focused and understand the people closest to you might not be your biggest supporters. Be strong and know that you are changing the current of your life and that the people who aren’t meant to be there will find a way to excommunicate themselves.

Another piece of advice is network, network, network. Get your face out there even if you aren’t established yet. You would be surprised how many people will be willing to give you advice on how to start your business or give you that one opportunity you need to put you on your path.
