Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Bock.

Hi Sarah, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
The glacier is a family dream come to life! My father in law, Mike, and I decided that our neighborhood needed more homemade ice cream and gelato and that a family run business would be an amazing adventure for us all. That was nearly eight years and three Glacier locations ago. Since then, we have served over a million scoops of ice cream, gelato and sorbet in hundreds of ‘fan-favorite’ flavors to our friends, family, and neighbors. Being born and raised here, we are excited to provide a yummy treat for our customers in a fun, welcoming environment. We have also partnered with schools and nonprofits to benefit children’s causes near and dear to our hearts.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Operating a retail business has both joys and challenges. We love being in the ice cream business, where people come to relax and enjoy a treat. Our customers are our greatest champions and we thrive on their happiness! I would say that our struggles have been in simply learning how best to operate our shops efficiently and to provide a superior product that people will enjoy. We also have learned a lot about how to be good leaders and managers for our staff, to support and guide them, while also maintaining our high standards of service. As a result, we have a great team who help us to grow our business.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
I have a background in community philanthropy, which is a far cry from running a retail ice cream shop, but because both pursuits are involved in working with the community, it is really related to everything we do in some way! I have brought my passion for inspiring people to get involved in the community to our business in the outreach we do to schools and nonprofits. It’s a different approach to do engage with the community through our business, as it needs to also make sense for our brand and products, but that’s the fun of learning new ways to be a citizen.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
I love ice cream in all shapes, sizes and flavors. I love the creativity of seeing what others in this arena are doing and finding ways for Glacier to invent flavors and new ways of presenting our delicious ice creams to our customers. I love it when people find out that I have an ice cream shop and connecting with them immediately because it’s simply a topic everyone can relate to. I love that our whole family has had an incredible growth experience through building this ice cream business together, out of love for each other and this wonderful town we live in.
