Today we’d like to introduce you to Shaelyn.
Shaelyn, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Music for me started when I was a little girl. I was always singing with my mom, along with to the radio, through out school and in church. I started writing poetry in high school which led to writing a couple of songs here and there. I started taking my writing seriously and have found myself performing in front of so many beautiful people and feeling right at home on stage.
Has it been a smooth road?
With anything in life comes a struggle. We all know nothing is given to us or easy and we have to work hard for what we want. My advice is to always follow your dreams! Just put in the time and work and go with the flow. What is meant for you is meant and what isn’t, isn’t…
Please tell us more about your artwork, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
As an artist in the Denver area, I think what sets me apart is how versatile I am with my music and how I don’t really stick to one sound. I sing, rap and like to change up my beats so there’s no telling what’s next. I’m most proud of my brands meaning. Sometimes, this world makes people feel like they need to fit into society and I feel my brand “C’est Moi” – This Is Me – is about seeing and appreciating people for who they are.
What advice would you give to someone at the start of her career?
Never give up! No matter how hard it gets, no matter how many no’s you hear and yes’s you don’t, no matter what anyone says. If you want it to go and get it. The only thing stoping you is YOU!
