Today we’d like to introduce you to Shane Morris.
Hi Shane, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I grew up as a skateboarder/surfer in Crestview/Destin Florida and obviously from that was immediately attracted to the idea of filming and photographing what I was doing. That’s kind of how photography got started for me. In 2010, I lived in Scotland for a short amount of time and that’s when I took the plunge to buy my first nice slur and start working part time professionally. In 2013, I chose to take the domain SilverthornePhotography.com and that’s when I became legit. Shortly after my wife and I also started a restaurant, Cultivate, which first started in Florida for a brief two years. We decided we wanted to be back in Colorado so we packed up and moved back. After a year or so we repicked off Cultivate again but this time inside of Angry James Brewery. Since then I’ve become a full time restaurant entrepreneur and grew my photography company from just photography to now a media company that helps other businesses with branding and media work. Moving forward my business has transformed as I’m now doing more cinematography and work in the entertainment/music industry and moved into a studio/office space with the Beau Thomas Band.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Ultimately there hasn’t been to many bumps along the way but I could Attribute that to my “low and slow” mindset. Spending only when I actually have the money other than a couple times for newer high end cameras. It didn’t happen overnight but it is happening. And it’s happening organically which is the best way in my opinion.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a professional photographer/cinematographer that specializes in lifestyle and entertainment events. You know I could say I’m known around town for my work but honestly I think a lot of times it’s for my professionalism. I answer when you call, I write you back the same day usually, and I work very hard to understand the client’s vision. I think this is what sets me apart from most others. I’m incredibly proud of working with the Town of Silverthorne. They’ve allowed me opportunities to work with great artist like Simon Beck and international recognition. Also, with athletes like Red Girard and other Olympics.
So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
