Today we’d like to introduce you to Shuree Rivera.
Shuree, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I am a Creative Director, recording artist, writer, Community Outreach Coordinator, and a Creative Arts Lead who has toured nationally. I have led dynamic experiences using the power of artistic creation to bring diverse people together. I’ve lived and worked in Columbus, New York, Minneapolis, Detroit, Denver, and LA.
Through my artistic experiences across the country, I have seen the unique opportunities there are to stir up the Creative Economy and contextually serve that culture through the Arts. Each city is comprised of people who hold an indigenous culture and legacy in that space. I always look to honor that. I believe when we honor people and help them tell their stories we push forward the process of inclusivity, diversity, and equity.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth road. The life of an Artist is complex. We tend to feel very deeply the world and people around us. This is what makes our art great but our heads spin! If Art and Business really did live in the same vibe it would be easier but I don’t believe they do. It has been a discipline for me to learn the business side of things. Business tends to deal a lot with politics and I used to hate that. But after being apart of the 2019 Urban Leadership Foundation of Colorado’s Co-Hort I learned how to reconcile both spaces. In order to create your future, you must learn how to authorize your environment, in other words, walk into a space knowing what you want from it and what you are willing to give, that’s business.
Please tell us about 4000 More Creative.
I am most proud of a co-working space for Creators I just built in Cleveland, Ohio. My mentor Rene Singleton. Owner of a multi-cultural marketing agency (Singleton & Partners) hired my company to envision, brand and build a space a content creator could: Record an album, Shoot a video, Livestream a masterclass, record a podcast, and do their business a state of the art conference room all in one space. Space is called Work Lab! I will be recording my new album and all digital assets this year for a 2021 release. It’s a blessing to be able to build the space you work will create out of!
Who have you been inspired by?
Renee Singleton- Black Woman Magic. My Mentor & Business Guru. Owner of her own MultiCultural Marketing Agency for over 17 years. She invests radically into black women. https://singletonpartners.com/
