Today we’d like to introduce you to Tania Pallarés.
Tania, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I am a European woman born in Valencia (Spain). I started studying makeup at sixteen in a private academy in Valencia, despite the economic costs that my family meant, I was able to study what would later become my job. They were difficult times in Spain since we were going through a great economic crisis in the country and being my single mother, I started working in various trades to help pay for my studies. I could say that my beginnings in the world of makeup were complicated.
Once I finished the course “MASTER OF MAKEUP” I enabled a room in my house and did a makeup studio, little by little I built my fortress … that place that allowed me to disconnect from the world and connect with myself.
Years passed and I created a unique work technique that allowed me to bring something new and unique to the world. I began to believe in myself and in my work, and everything began to flow.
People began to differentiate my work just by seeing them, word of mouth began to work and little by little, I became a recognized make-up artist.
I specialize in bridal makeup and I am one of the most requested makeup artists in Valencia, I also teach master classes for other professionals on a tour that I organize in Spain once a year and I share my work through youtube and my social networks.
Several years later, I achieved all the goals that I set for myself, so that life was in charge of setting new goals in my way so that once again, I can overcome myself. Then a wonderful American man who stole my heart appeared in my path, and here you have me, knowing this wonderful city, its people and a new language.
While I wait to legally start a new makeup business here, I am focusing on a new project, I am writing my first book on the keys to being a successful makeup artist, which will be launched in the coming months and that will help many people get into fully in the world of makeup and be able to live economically from this work.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I would say that the success of an entrepreneur depends directly on the stones he finds along the way, so I am not the exception, learning from mistakes is what builds us as professionals. As I said before, my beginning was not easy, even though when life was determined to say NO, I knew that I had to show the world and myself that there is no victory without a fight. I remember even when I was studying, my teacher told me that I was not doing makeup, she told me in front of the whole class and broke my dreams into a thousand pieces. Luckily my dream was bigger than any word. After this, I continued to believe in myself but life still wanted to make it difficult for me. I remember when after finishing my studies, I did not have enough money to buy makeup and thus be able to start a business so I had to make some money to buy basic and economic products to work. I also remember when after getting some material, I made up all my people for free so I could have the opportunity to improve my technique and get out of anonymity. These were difficult times, but I am what I am now thanks to this, so I do not regret having taken all these steps.
Please tell us about your work.
My job is to enhance the beauty of women, to make them feel sexy and powerful, taking out the inner goddess we all have inside. It really is a beautiful job that allows you to connect a lot with the clients. I specialize in bridal makeup, I makeup about 30 brides per year, so thanks to this, I can be present on the most special day of many women and create special memories for both them and me.
My work is differentiated by the close treatment I have with the client, the details and the attention I have with them, for me it is important that they feel that they can not only spend time with a professional but also with a friend, someone who understands their needs, who understands, advises and works to making dreams come true.
I would describe my makeup with a romantic and sweet style, very European, giving depth to the look.
With my makeup, I think I could contribute something different to the women of Denver, a new technique and a unique job
Were there people and/or experiences you had in your childhood that you feel laid the foundation for your success?
Of course. Because of the position, my family was in, I had a childhood with many responsibilities that made me mature early and this made me want to create a better future for myself, for my family without giving up the happiness of working with what I like. The good thing about feeling at the bottom is that you know there is only one way out and it is to climb up.
