Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiffany Rose Goodyear.
Tiffany Rose, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I am the founder of two companies based in Denver, Colorado. I started Yours Truly Cupcake, a full-service dessert catering company from my love for baking while attending graduate school at the University of Denver. I was able to incorporate my marketing background into the dessert industry and focused on creating dessert experiences through edible libations and curated sweet experiences for clients like Neiman Marcus, Pernod Ricard, Louis Vuitton and Kate Space.
Seeing the power of touch taste and smell to create branded and immersive experiences, I expanded on the work of Yours Truly Cupcake to develop Sentology by creating a groundbreaking approach to using scent to create immersive atmospheres with a focus on events and art installations. I created the first-ever scented piece of art for Denver International Airport.
I am passionate about helping clients rise above the clutter of audio and visual branding by strategically adding touch, taste, and smell into branded immersive experiences. Every detail should elevate a moment, while maintaining a consistent identity throughout.
In the past year, I have scented events in New York, Washington, D.C., Chicago, Minneapolis, Las Vegas, and Denver. I speak nationally at industry and corporate events and has been a keynote speaker for WIPA, ILEA, DMC Network, Women in Kind, and Thinx.
I hold a Master’s Degree in Advertising Management from the University of Denver and a dual Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy and Political Science from St. Mary’s College of Maryland. I am an avid reader, traveler, and explorer; when I’m isn’t curating scents, you can find me chasing new experiences.
Has it been a smooth road?
In life, there are always obstacles. I have found that there are powerful lessons to be learned in the challenges that we face. In my own experience, the challenges I have found one of the to be greatest to lessons involve ones that force me to stand up for myself, to own my strengths and recognize my contributions and creativity as valuable. Having gone off on my own into a creative industry it was only a matter of time before I began to see others executing my original ideas and profiting from it. This is something persists even to this day, but I am comforted by the fact that unlike the copycats, I am an idea factory, my creativity is endless and while they can profit from a one off, my value is far beyond a singular occurrence. Along these lines, I would advise others to share their ideas, but know they are valuable. Create connections with people in your industry that are willing to pay what you are worth for your ideas and stand strong in your highest self knowing that there is an audience out there that desires and values you.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Sentology – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I am the pioneer of Sentology, which celebrates the art of sensory experience. I integrate the five senses for meetings and events by thinking of the event as an immersive experience that tells a story. Once I know the goal and target audience of any given occasion, I work within the decisions that have been made regarding theme and décor weaving together the choices with the lighting, music and food. Finally, I incorporate scent as the pièce de résistance. By incorporating all five senses in a cohesive way, planners can reach their audience on the most intimate of levels to creating lasting memories.
I also founded Yours Truly Cupcake, which is based on the idea that we don’t sell cupcakes we sell an experience. With a background in marketing, I was always interested in telling a story through touch, taste and smell using our signature bite size desserts, display design using our clients inspiration. Desserts lend themselves well to creating a memorable branded moment. We like to create unexpected ways to retrieve our treats sparking the sense of touch, whether that’s pulling a dessert off of a display, unhooking the treat, or pulling a string to retrieve a hanging snowflake cookie. We use sugar to stimulate taste and smell by creating confectionary surprises. Such as the melt-in-your mouth quality of freshly spun cotton candy with an adult twist of alcohol infused sugar. Creating these immersive sensory experiences enliven a brand and allow guests imagination to expand indelving and lasting memories.
