Life and Work with Wendy De Rosa

Today we’d like to introduce you to Wendy De Rosa.

Wendy, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
How I got started is quite a story, but here is the abridged version: I was highly sensitive and intuitive as a child but I did not understand it, know it, or have context for this level of sensitivity growing up. The result was – I developed anxiety and gained emotional and physical weight. By the time I was in my teenage years, I was having panic attacks, which resulted in a nervous breakdown at the age of 19. My life drastically took a turn at this point, and I started to seek out what my heart was calling me to and understand more about what was going on with me. In this pursuit, I found an energy healing teacher who helped me understand WHY I was highly intuitive, and HOW I needed to develop my gift so I would not be consumed by oversensitivity.

Then, I trained with an intuitive healing teacher for two years and in that time I began giving healing sessions. This was 24 years ago. There were no social media back then, and the only form of advertising was word-of-mouth or hanging a flyer up in a coffee shop. Referrals kept flooding in, and by the time I was 30, I had over 500 private clients. From then on, people were interested in learning how to integrate my methodology into their practices, and so I began teaching classes. That lead to writing books and developing my Intuitive Healer Training Program, which now has been running for nine years. My international reach increased when I came on board as a faculty member for The Shift Network, in combination with Mindvalley’s Soulvana channel. Here I am, years later, training healers in developing their intuition and teaching people how to heal and clear their underlying blocks and wounds.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Some of the struggles along the way have been allowing my fears and my early childhood conditioning, which includes old beliefs systems and societal beliefs, to get in the way of what I intuitively know is true. In the first 10 years of my journey, the word “intuition” was very much under the table. I did not walk around saying “I am an intuitive energy healer” back then. As people have been experiencing awakenings over the past 10 years, and certainly social media is a part of this because people are waking up on these social media platforms, intuition is much more accepted now. This is true in business decisions, as well as the deep calling from within to change a job or find a different career path or make a choice bringing out our true selves. Our intuition is a big part of this process. It is very scary to go out on a limb, to trust yourself in the face of perceived judgment, and take a leap of faith. Yet, fear is part of the process. It comes with the territory, so my advice to anyone starting their journey is to befriend fear, and expect it to be there, and increase your capacity to be able to breathe through it when it happens. It would be unusual for it not to be there.

Please tell us about the School of Intuitive Studies.
I am an intuitive energy healer and also a consciousness teacher and a teacher of intuition. When people hear this, sometimes they think, “Isn’t intuition just listening to my voice inside?” And I wish that was all of it. However, there are four different types of intuitive people. Some people feel the energy and are empathic. Some people visualize and see intuitively, giving them heightened perception about a situation and sometimes very vivid dreams. Some people hear messages intuitively, and some people have a deep sense of knowing. They do not know why they know… they just know. Some people are a combination of some or all of these aspects of intuition, which can make processing the world very overwhelming and confusing at times when you do not know how your intuition is actually working in your body. Everyone has an element of at least one of these aspects of intuition. What sets me apart as an intuitive teacher is I am the teacher people come to after sometimes even 30 years of therapeutic practice… people who are ready to go deep within the consciousness of the energy body to clear blocks keeping inner light from emerging. Strong intuition is a part of this process. Through my school, www.theschoolofintuitivestudies.com, I offer courses and trainings including the Intuitive Healer Training Program to support people in this deep inner journey. We also have certified healers for those who are interested in one-on-one healing sessions.

Do you feel like there was something about the experiences you had growing up that played an outsized role in setting you up for success later in life?
Growing up, I know now as an adult I had all four aspects of intuition as a child. Clearly, I did not know that back then, but if I hadn’t gone through the over-sensitivity struggles and symptoms, I experienced in my youth, I would not be able to help others in recognizing their intuitive gifts in themselves.
