Hi Jay, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My name is Jay Hanna, and I am the founder of Jeeves Drones, a real estate photography and aerial data collection company based in Denver, Colorado. My journey into entrepreneurship began with a deep passion for digital marketing and photography, which I have honed over the years.
I started my career in marketing as a social media marketing consultant in New York in 2009. Since then, I have worked with various clients, from manufacturers to e-commerce stores, engineering firms, retailers, restaurants, construction companies, startups, technology companies, and more. One of my most significant accomplishments was developing social media strategies for multi-million-dollar New York and New Jersey companies.
In 2022, I launched Jeeves Drones, a company that offers aerial photography, real estate photography, and data collection services. Our vision is based on the theory that people crave quality customer service and that our country is tired of “gig” companies like Uber. Our largest competitor has followed the same employment model as Uber. In the end, the customers are the ones who suffer due to lack of quality due to low wages and devalued skilled work.
I have partnered with some of the nation’s most renowned real estate, insurance, and project management companies through Jeeves. We have also partnered with advertising agencies, SaaS startups, and engineering companies to offer top-quality drone services to businesses and individuals nationwide.
To help cover the startup costs of Jeeves Drones, I also manage a million-dollar-per-year advertising budget for a billion-dollar SaaS company, and I provide cutting-edge marketing consulting services for a handful of small and medium-sized businesses in Colorado.
I believe success comes from being resourceful and finding ways to innovate and stay ahead of the trends.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Growing Jeeves Drones has been a roller coaster of emotions. Some weeks we are completely overbooked, and others only have one or two bookings.
The biggest struggle with Jeeves Drones is building our real estate photography segment, which is highly competitive and challenging to predict. The volatile housing market makes it difficult to predict how busy we will be from one week to another. But overall we have seen steady upward trends in exposure and bookings.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Jeeves Drones is best known for its full-service real estate photography services. Offering traditional photography, aerial photography, floorplans, 3d tours, and drone walkthrough videos. But we still need to start our company to help sell real estate. But that is not why Jeeves Drones was created. Real estate was more or less an accident.
Jeeves Drones is a drone staffing and technology company. Keeping public safety, energy, and engineering at the forefront of our business is our key to success.
That’s why we’re working to build systems that help incorporate modern drone technology into everyday practices, from saving lives through our animal search and rescue services to saving money and being more efficient.
One of the most recent innovations was the introduction of infrared cameras to aerial systems. We use these systems to help roofers identify moisture beneath roofing systems. This saves them time and money by reducing the need to climb on roofs and cuts inspection times down by over 70%.
