Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Bystricky.
Hi Jessica, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I grew up having an eye for beauty. From playing beauty shop as a little girl to applying makeup on friends in high school for special occasions, my makeup skills continued to grow. I became inspired by makeup artists on YouTube, which is where I gained most of my knowledge about makeup. In 2015, I moved out to Colorado and attended Paul Mitchell The School Denver to continue to grow in the makeup industry. As I graduated from the Esthetics Program in January of 2016 and received my license in March of that year, I proceeded to start my own business. At first, it was just me doing makeup for weddings and events. I then met and started contracting out a team of hairstylists and makeup artists, creating Beauty and the Babes. We now have an amazing team of talented artists specialize in wedding hair and makeup and have won the Knot Best of Weddings for four consecutive years. This award is earned by 5% of hundreds of thousands of local wedding professionals and represents the highest and most-rated wedding professionals and we are thrilled to hold this award.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Being a small business owner always has its struggles. My biggest struggle was building the right team of artists. Every business has a few bad hires and I had my fair share. I believe it takes those bad hires to realize what it takes to be a good artist and I now have the most amazing, talented and kind artists I could ask for and we make such a great team.
