Today we’d like to introduce you to Shasta Crockett.
Shasta, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started photography after my first child was born. I had hired a photographer for newborn photos and just thought, wow, I would love to do that. It took me several years to actually feel confident enough to follow my dreams, but I am so thankful that I finally did! I have been capturing treasured moments as my only job for about four years! It is so rewarding but also challenging. I am always trying to grow, try new things, and photography is an extension of my heart and an outward representation of my feelings at times. It truly is an art form for me, and I love seeing happy clients (turned friends) over the years. I run all of the day-to-day tasks such as social media, website, advertising, and the accounting aspect. It is a lot to run my own business, but it is worth it!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My photography journey has been anything but smooth. Like with so many businesses, Covid threw my business for a loop. Things finally seem to be getting back to normal but running a small business during a pandemic was wild. Also, confidence has been an issue at times. My work is so deeply personal to me and it matters that my clients are over the moon with their final images and the experience they had from start to finish with me. I am also an introvert, and networking is a massive aspect for photographers and is admittedly not my most incredible skill.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I focus on family, senior and wedding photography. Most of my clients book for family sessions, which I started with. I’ve got five kids, so I think I work well with kiddos and help capture their essence in a photo. I strive to create authentic imagery with bold and vibrant colors. A sunny warm glow is my signature. There are so many amazing photographers in Colorado and it’s a competitive industry, but luckily, I think the photographers here really push for the community over competition. I think I have a unique style and a bold look. I have a lot of return clients that I am so thankful for!
Alright, so before we go, can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
In these modern social media times, it is vital that people show love on social media to the artists they adore. Share, comment, and like posts by those small business owners, and it would mean the world to them!
