Today we’d like to introduce you to Adiel Mitchell.
So, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I originally began making music in 2012 when I was a part of a music duo, “Two Worlds,” with my friend Nick at the time. I had dabbled around in some music stuff beforehand but that was when I decided to start taking a bit more seriously. We would put out Youtube videos and made covers and originals and honestly, it went very well. For being so new to music and performing, we had created a pretty good following on social media and that opened the door of pursuing my own stuff in about 2016. From there, I felt like I was finally able to just follow my own self and creatively dive in directions I’ve always wanted to pursue but never did. In 2018, I released an EP titled “About Last Night” and that’s when it all clicked into place for me. I felt like I had finally discovered my own sound and with the polished productions aside me, I felt ready to hit the ground running.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
OH HELL NO. I’m just kidding, but seriously. Nothing about this road has been smooth. But in a way, I think I prefer it that way. I like to challenge myself when I learn something new and singing and performing always keeps me learning. At a young age, I would always make home videos with my video camera or come up with skits with my friends so that kind of charisma always fueled me about entertaining people. So, I’d say that would probably be the smoothest part but everything else? That definitely takes practice and just having fun with it. I would say a large portion of any struggles you have as an artist is developing who you are. You wanna be yourself, but social media makes you feel like you should be like everyone else and that is just a trippy thing to be fighting with and against.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
The proudest moment of my career so far would have to be being nominated in the Westword for “Best R&B Artist.” That is crazy! To be honest, to be nominated against such heavy hitters out here in Denver is such an honor. I genuinely feel like there are people out here really doing their things and have been for much longer than I have but to recognize in such a professional and public manner with only having 2 EP’s out so far seems like such a dream.
