Today we’d like to introduce you to Adrienne Coffey.
Adrienne, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My experience in the world of event planning began in college when I interned with a few different nonprofit organizations which sparked my love for event planning and fundraising. Then, one Christmas, my husband registered a company in my name and gifted it to me. That was the beginning of this crazy and blessed ride we’ve been on together.
Adrienne & Co. quickly grew to a volume where I knew I needed to leave my full-time job to work on the company. Our initial goal was for me to quit my job in five years. Well, that happened in six months. We eventually added wedding planning to our services along with the nonprofit fundraiser planning and venue management we were doing. Two years later, we had the opportunity to acquire A Touch of Bliss to expand our wedding planning services. We spent the next two years working to transform it into a company with highly trained planners and a superior level of service.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The road has been anything but smooth but every day I am grateful for the many things I’ve learned along the way. Being a planner, I have a desire to be in control but running a business is anything but controlled. When we acquired A Touch of Bliss, it was as if we were thrown onto the top of a roller coaster ride. We poured countless hours into building the company and the branding up. From working to implement service standards and procedures to team training in establishing vendor relationships, we didn’t plan for the time and money that would need to go into it. We had to quickly adapt and make hard decisions to keep everything afloat. We spent many long days to get the company to where we wanted to be. Looking back, we only made it through as well as we did by the grace of God. We’ve learned many lessons on customer service, processes and procedures, communication, and reporting. Of all the lessons learned through the past few years, being able to roll with the punches and make the best of everything has been the hardest.
What else should our readers know?
Adrienne & Co. specializes in nonprofit fundraiser planning and venue management. We have the expertise in fundraising strategies, reporting requirements, and event logistics to bring unique expertise to nonprofit organizations. We plan anything from galas to festivals to out-of-the-box events. We love working with organizations on a yearly strategy so all their fundraising events for the year tie together through goals and donor communication. With us working on the event logistics and execution, the organization is able to pour their time into sponsorships and ticket sales. Some of our favorite events are the most creative with unique elements and fun guest experience.
A Touch of Bliss plans weddings for couples across Colorado and in destination locations. Although we’re based in Denver, we plan about half of our weddings either in the mountains or across the US. Our goal is that every wedding will be the perfect reflection of the couple and their love story together. We love to incorporate fun details and touches that make guests smile. We’ve worked at hundreds of venues and with numerous different vendors which allows us to bring the expertise needed to plan a memorable wedding. Our services range from day of coordination to custom packages to full-service planning.
The best part of being in this industry is seeing everything come together after a year of work. Seeing the client’s face light up at an event and the joy that it brings them is always so satisfying. We often work many long days to make our events and weddings happen all for the client to have the best day ever.
Our standards of service and built-in processes are the best in the industry. We spend a lot of time in the office working through logistics and brainstorming fun ideas together so every client receives the expertise of the entire team.
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
I couldn’t make it through owning a business without the support of my husband and our families. When I come home from a long day, I know I have people there to support and guide me as needed. When we have issues come up, I have the wisdom of everyone around me to use. They are always willing to step in when I need help, which is quite often. Through the good days and the bad, they are there for me.
