Meet Alexis Faille of Parsley & Valentine in Lakewood and Littleton

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexis Faille.

Alexis, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started in the floral industry after leaving a long term job in the cannabis world. I always had a passion for all things botanical and floristry sounded like a great new adventure. I first started at a shop with my childhood best friend’s mom (my second mom) doing things like cleaning buckets and general grunt work. She very quickly let me explore the ideas of floral design by letting me play with leftover flowers. I was very spoiled to be taught all the tips and tricks of the trade by someone whom I loved so dearly. Our work/life relationship is one of the most important things in my world because she introduced me to my true passion.

After her shop closed down, I decided to make a run of it on my own. Started Parsley & Valentine in January of 2018. At first, I was building the brand by participating in styled shoots and general business buildup. I soon had a completely booked wedding season for 2019 and I’m already 50% booked for 2020. They say entrepreneurs work 80 hours a week for themselves in order to not work 40 hours a week for someone else, and this is totally true. My work ethic has changed drastically since everything at stake is my own. I absolutely thrive on owning my own business and am so grateful I made the leap!

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Since I’m still in the first two years, I am running everything out of a “home studio”. In a less romantic way of saying it – my home is overrun with all things floral. Sometimes it does become overwhelming to never have the separation of home and work, but I honestly wouldn’t have it any other way. It’s a great reminder of all my accomplishments and future endeavors as a florist. I hope to have another successful wedding season next year and be able to afford a “real” studio space.

Tell us more about the business.
Parsley & Valentine is literally all things floral. I have several services that include wedding flowers, styled shoot flowers, everyday arrangements, birthday/special occasion/just because of arrangements, sympathy arrangements, silk bouquets, and anything else you can imagine. I also have a “Flower of the Month Club” where clients sign up for a monthly or bi-weekly arrangement delivered. My style of arranging is a bit different in a way that I have synesthesia with flowers. I can make a photo of a parrot into an arrangement, or a sunset, or a movie scene. I also really love to use a multitude of textures and unique ingredients. I’m always looking to bend the rules of floral arranging and really make each piece my own.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I have worked extremely hard to be where I am today. I believe in the law of attraction and not in luck. I manifested all of my success and am so grateful for it. Everything happens for a reason, but one is always making choices to lead to where they are to date. Blessings and gratitude brings blessings and gratitude 🙂
