Meet Alicia Jones of Mintaka LLC in Highlands Ranch

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alicia Jones.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Alicia. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I’ve always been fascinated with crystals, rocks and fossils. From early on in life, I collected rocks. My husband and I always enjoyed attending the Denver Gem and Mineral Show and in 2017 our hobby of collecting crystals became a concept for a business. I quickly signed up for a State License, Federal Tax ID. Opening day was in October 2017 with several friends and family members to preview my products. The feedback was overwhelming. I continued to set up “shows” in my home and decided to sign up for Etsy, Facebook and Instagram for Mintaka LLC. In the summer of 2018, my daughter suggested I set up at the Mile High Flea Market. People flocked to our booth. Not every day at the flea market was profitable but we got to know other vendors, customers and low and behold we started to get repeat customers. In December 2018, we set up at our first craft show. We could barely keep up with sales. In 2019, I continued to establish my Etsy site, cross promoting using Instagram and Facebook. We also spend about two Sunday’s a Month at the Mile High Flea Market from Spring until Fall. In October 2019, we signed up for several Holiday Craft shows. We attended six craft shows and were so blessed with business. My Etsy business continues to grow daily, and we are looking forward to getting back out to interact with our customers when it’s safe again.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It hasn’t been a completely smooth road but we have learned so much along the way. We had to learn our various markets, price points and demographics. Etsy has been a huge learning curve, establishing the correct shipping price and ensuring the photos and descriptions are appealing. Along with that, Social Media has also been a challenge.

Tell us more about the business.
We’re a crystal, fossil, mineral, gem & jewelry shop. Mintaka LLC specializes in hand selected and crafted crystals, minerals, fossils, geodes, agate, quartz clusters, pyramids, healing wands, jewelry, Himalayan salt lamps & candle holders, crystal infused essential oil spray and rollers and so much more. We are known for our high quality, high vibrational products offered. I’m most proud of the positive responses and reviews on our Etsy site and our overwhelming feedback from our satisfied customers. What sets us apart from others is our partnership with our wholesale vendors allows us to offer our products at some of the lowest prices in the crystal market.
