Meet Alleigh Follett and David Molchan of Woven Roots Rentals in Colorado Springs

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alleigh Follett and David Molchan.

Alleigh and David, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
We’ve always been an entrepreneurial-minded family. A common phrase around our house growing up was “Oh, that’s a good idea for a business!”. Usually the conversation ended there, but the idea of starting a business was always there. More specifically about my dad and me. We both love design. We enjoy vintage and antique furniture. My dad loves architecture and I’m pretty sure his dream career would be in salvaging old buildings. Well designed restaurants, stores and buildings are something we have always enjoyed analyzing.

I, personally, have a background in home staging, all things design, and I have a DIY Home Blog. So that has always been my focus. My dad, David, manages quite a few facilities around town. His attention for detail and critical thinking skills are a crucial part to our business. I tend to lean more toward the creative side. So I guess how this all began… I had been thinking about specialty event rentals for a little while in early 2020, and my dad had casually said to me during that time, “Hey, we should start a business”. Of course, I already had an idea of what that could be. So we talked about it a few more times after that, and then eventually just went for it. The initial conversation started in January 2020, and from there we got everything rolling and were up and running by mid-May.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
So I’m sure starting a business of any kind is hardest at the beginning, right? But then you add in Covid19… Honestly, it hasn’t been too bad, and we’re good at adjusting and making it work. It’s just a little disappointing to start a business and have big expectations and then have everything shut down for a while with very few weddings happening.

With all of that aside, it’s been fun. From designing our website to working on several styled shoots with amazing and talented vendors. It’s been a really great opportunity for us to get our feet wet and figure out our systems before we’re extremely busy.

Woven Roots Rentals – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Our mission as Woven Roots Rentals is to provide a little “extra” to every event that we have the honor of being a part of. Whether that be extra character, personality, style, you name it. We have sweetheart tables, head tables, unique lounges, settees, and so much more. All unique, carefully curated items to be rented for weddings, events, parties, showers, photoshoots. We’re here to make sure that each and everyone one of our clients feels seen and understood through the pieces that they rent.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
To be able to fully support our families through this business would be an absolute blessing. That’s probably what we would consider long term success here. But more short term, and throughout the duration of our business, if we walk away from each and every event with happy and content clients who felt understood and satisfied by our service, that feels like such a great success. Adding beauty wherever we go is beautiful way to live. I absolutely love the quote by Elsie de Wolfe, “I am going to make everything around me beautiful, and that will be my life”.
