Meet Allison Bhatta of chaos&boom in Lafayette

Today we’d like to introduce you to Allison Bhatta.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Allison. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I’ve always loved making things. I started making cards and gifts for people when I was in college and wanted to save money and that is something I’ve never outgrown. There is nothing better than a handmade gift in my mind.

I get inspiration from everywhere and prefer to make things (within reason) rather than buying them which often costs more money but worth the learning experience and handmade aspect. And it’s a huge creative outlet that I lose track of time doing. It’s good for the soul.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Time is the hardest part for me. I still have a full-time job and I also bought a fixer upper in 2018, so I don’t have a ton of time to make as much anymore but when I do, I always enjoy it!

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about chaos&boom – what should we know?
chaos&boom is a little business that specializes in a lot of things. It’s a little bit handmade, a little bit organization and a little bit of things I never thought I could do/knew how to but tried and did them anyway.

I’m most proud of the things I’ve done that have inspired others to try things themselves. I think that sets me apart – I’ll experiment and try things out that I’ve never done before and learned a ton along the way.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
My best friend from kindergarten’s Mom was an artist which opened my eyes to the world of creativity as a career. But I honestly have done a ton of ‘figuring it out as I go. I’ve had experiences that no one could ever teach in my day job – getting let go, working for myself, etc. I definitely have some cheerleaders out there that remind me to keep going and sharing the projects I work on, even if they are just for me sometimes.
