Meet Amanda Bolan of RippleWorx Inc.

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda Bolan.

Hi Amanda, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I graduated from college in 2007 with a BFA in graphic design. My husband was military at the time, and we soon relocated to Ft. Lewis, Washington. I spent the next few years growing my portfolio and working in various industries. When his time in the military was finished, we moved back to our hometown of Huntsville, AL, and I started working in higher education as a web designer. In 2015, I left higher education to go to a German software company. This was my first job truly in software. Due to the uncertainty of our company’s future, a few of us started brainstorming on how to move forward. We saw a clear gap in the industry for performance acceleration – not performance evaluation, which is an HR topic – but how can we help people do their jobs better?

With a few (7) others, RippleWorx was born. We have spent the last three years building a software product and grown to a team of 30. We serve clients such as Warner Media Studios, DoD, local municipalities, and sports teams. This has been the highlight of my life, other than my children’s births, to watch this company grow and become something we can all be proud of. Within RippleWorx, I serve as the Lead Product Designer, curating the experience of the product for our users and innovating new ideas for the future. When the pandemic started, we were watching a TV show called “Win the Wilderness,” and at the end of the series, the elderly man looked at the camera and said, “A lot of people will say I wish I had, we can say, we did.” That statement resonated heavily with us, and we decided at that moment to find a place to live that met all of our criteria, versus settling for the place we happened to be born. So, we sold the brand house we had just built, packed up our family of five, and moved from Hartselle, AL to Frisco, CO. Colorado already feels like home, four months in.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has definitely not been a smooth road. We have had several roadblocks with employees, funding, the product, etc. The biggest struggle was my inexperience in entrepreneurism. Other than a t-shirt company I co-founded on the side of my day job, I didn’t have true experience running a company. I wouldn’t say I have a clue now, but I definitely know more than I did three years ago.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about RippleWorx Inc.?
We are a performance acceleration company. We have a special algorithm for helping people get better at whatever skills they want to grow. We work with creatives, sports teams, local police departments, and others to gauge what activities they do in their daily lives, which helps them get better. Our hashtag is #bebetter. We care about people. We understand that life outside of work definitely effects like within work. We focus on a three-pronged approach: emotional, cognitive, and physical health and wellness mixed with goals, skills, and training to help each person become their best.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
I do not believe in conventional success. My success is based on if I can look myself in the mirror. Have I lived my life in a way that made the world a better place? We can’t take money, fame, or things with us when we leave this place, but we can act in a way that perpetuates the goodness in others and ourselves.
