Meet Amanda Hitz of Bend & Blaze Yoga

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda Hitz.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Amanda. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
In early 2015, I was teaching yoga by day and bartending by night. One of my regulars offered me his cannabis-friendly space to host a class out of. I didn’t have any expectations, so they were far exceeded when I ran out of space immediately and consistently. Since then, I have taught hundreds of Bend & Blaze classes, built an incredible community that I consider family, held classes at several festivals and events, hosted workshops, and built a social media following of over 20k that I use to educate, advocate, and celebrate both cannabis and yoga.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Smooth is questionable, but most definitely rewarding. Cannabis laws are always evolving, so staying informed and on top of that to keep myself, my business and my yogis safe has always been a priority of mine.

Destigmatizing cannabis using yoga and wellness, and destigmatizing yoga using cannabis and realness comes with its fair share of criticism, too. Haters gonna hate.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Bend & Blaze Yoga – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Bend & Blaze is a community of like-minded yogis using cannabis for wellness. I believe a big piece of destigmatizing the plant is to normalize its use by simply incorporating it. We gather, sesh, and flow. We don’t generally treat the consumption portion of class like its much of a big deal. The reality is, most Bend & Blazers have been using cannabis regularly for years, they’re just relieved to find their people and have a space to practice, free of judgment.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
A lot has changed in the world in the last few months. Bend & Blaze is now streamed online, and my goal is to grow my online community to continue to reach people all over the globe.
