Meet Amanda Mirabella of Heights of Health in City Park

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda Mirabella.

Amanda, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My mom and aunts have been my lifelong inspirations and advocates for holistic healing, so it’s been a part of my life for a long time. Coming from an Italian family, food is an integral part of our gatherings and truly a love language! I have always loved cooking, and I’ve seen first hand how nutrition can be transformative and healing. Finding holistic nutrition felt like a perfect harmony of two of my greatest passions.

I received my BA in Psychology from Texas A&M University and continued my education at the American College of Healthcare Sciences where I graduated with honors with a Masters of Science in Holistic Nutrition. While I was in graduate school, I began working at Heights of Health, which is a holistic health clinic in Houston, TX. Heights of Health utilizes energy work, and I was immediately enamored with its ability to generate significant change. I knew I wanted to merge the benefits of energy work with the tenets of holistic nutrition to help people change their relationship with food.

I worked and trained at Heights of Health in Houston for over three years before moving to Denver in April 2018. When I relocated, I opened up Heights of Health’s Denver location, where I see clients remotely and in person at Womenfolk Wellness studio.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I began my Master’s program and working at Heights of Health at the same time, and it was quite a challenge to work full time while in school. Heights of Health is truly an amazing place though, and I always felt very supported by my coworkers (in addition to my family and friends) while pursuing my degree. So while it was a difficult time, I was incredibly fortunate to have such a wonderful job and the privilege to go back to school.

After graduating with my Masters, I began seeing clients in Houston but moved to Denver shortly after. This was (and truthfully still is) quite a hurdle since I don’t have the same network and connections in Colorado. Learning how to reach new clients and market locally has been a learning process for me.

Please tell us about Heights of Health. What should we know?
At Heights of Health, I was trained and certified in two energy modalities called ECR™ and MBR™. Stress, whether from physical or emotional sources, is stored in the body and creates a block to the healing process; ECR™ and MBR™ are modalities that reduce stress in the body and are designed to expedite the body’s innate healing ability. I combine the benefits of energy work with my education as a holistic nutritionist to bring a truly unique service.

I am genuinely proud and excited that I get to share this distinctive approach with clients. I am incredibly passionate about transforming the way we view our health. I want to empower others to take their wellbeing in their own hands, but not in a way that is restrictive or overbearing. I realize that people are overwhelmed and stressed by the constant flood of conflicting information that is shared about nutrition and natural health. My intention to help clients discover foods that nurture both body and soul while dismantling fears and restrictions that surround the dieting culture. I strive to encourage positive body image, provide clarity and education concerning healthy eating, promote healing, and encourage clients to genuinely enjoy real food!

I believe variety in what we eat is one of the most crucial factors in our overall health. I often find that variety is inhibited by diets such as low FODMAP, AIP, keto, etc. I absolutely believe these diets have a time and a place, but an important part of my work is encouraging clients to take a more expansive approach to eating.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
I believe that compassion is a key component to my success as a practitioner in helping my clients achieve their health goals. I am a tough love kind of person, but the longer I work with clients the more I understand that what we all need is a safe place to figure things out. We’re all trying to navigate life and find harmony among work, adventure, family, health, etc. I’ve learned that being gracious and flexible with each other (and ourselves) is imperative to our growth and success. This is not to say that I don’t believe in boundaries and working diligently towards your goals, simply that these qualities ensure sustainable, genuine growth.
