Today we’d like to introduce you to Amber Tarver and Richard Mosko.
Amber and Richard, before we jump into specific questions about the company, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Well it all started with our friendship that soon turned romantic relationship that soon evolved into a business partnership. We found that we had so much in common from the beginning; music, graffiti, visionary art, our love for animals, the earth and a shared passion for plant and fungi medicine. We both have experience in Mycology, growing, foraging, extractions, plant medicine, holistic health, psychology, animal rehabilitation, sales, and business and marketing so the potential was definitely there.
It can be incredibly daunting to want to do so much to help the world around you, so we started with nonprofit work with a local Co-op, Co-op at 1st in west Denver and Daisy Chain Sanctuary, a horse and animal Sanctuary focused on offering intimate classes to help heal victims of trauma while providing Sanctuary to horses with disabilities. We lead the agricultural board there and created a curriculum that taught children about our connection to the planet, aquaponics, mushrooms, agriculture and more. I think it was during our collaboration with these organizations where we found our biggest passion with plants and fungi and just started creating our vision one day! Right now, we’re building from the ground up, networking a ton and looking for ways to collaborate as much as possible.
We’re excited to announce our first product launch, a comprehensive tincture called Quarantine & Chill with 1500 MG CBD, Osha Root and Reishi mushrooms. It’s been thoughtfully designed to alleviate respiratory issues, build lung health, fight viruses, provide an uplifting and calming state of being, build immunity, heart health, brain health and so much more. We figured it would be a great addition to any immune building regimen.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Wow, yes! Undertakings like this are constantly faced with challenges. Not only are we faced with such a transitional and controversial time in western medicine, but we’ve been faced with the challenges imposed by our government and society. It’s not easy to build a small business in Denver these days so we’ve had to be very patient and creative in the ways in which we’ve cultivated our structure and growth. Starting from humble beginnings has its own set of challenges. We have very high aspirations as well as standards for who we want to have as investors, so we’ve had to turn down many potential business opportunities due to them not aligning well with our values and overall vision.
Tell us about your company. What do you do, what do you specialize in, what are you known for, etc. What are you most proud of as a company? What sets you apart from others?
MyceliOhm aims to be many things. More than anything we want to help bring to light the incredible healing powers of our planet, mushrooms, plants and community through educational podcasts and sharing of information on our social pages. Another way that we will make an impression is through the growing and production of quality fungi and comprehensive wellness products aimed to enhance overall quality of life. There are many companies who specialize in mushroom products, but we take it to the next level by integrating fungi along with plant medicine into a symphonic union that provides another layer of essential healing property.
In regards to the educational aspect of our company, we feel that there’s a heavy cloud of allusions that we’ve all been tasked with unveiling that could use a different approach. As a result, we’ve made it our mission to debunk as many of these as possible while providing fun and inspiring educational podcasts and videos. It can feel so overwhelming trying to navigate truth, self, health and wellness so we will be providing some invaluable resources to help people have a more approachable way to apply this to their own lives.
Many companies are focused on profit over vision. Instead we aim to demonstrate how we can offer our products and services to everyone. We will be open source with our processes and provide tutorials so that anyone who is willing can learn to grow their own food as medicine. We want people to be empowered by knowledge and support with the compassion and understanding that we integrate into our structure. There are many channels that make themselves above or separate from their audience, but at MyceliOhm we are equal and all have our own strengths and therefore all have the potential to manifest anything that we desire.
Since we have such a passion for non-profit work, we are currently in the process of incorporating a non-profit sector to MyceliOhm. This sector will support the further extension of our vision to underprivileged communities locally, nationally and eventually worldwide. With the strategic establishment of warehouses within these communities, we will provide livable wages, educational resources, food as medicine and community mycogardens to help deter unnecessary violent crimes and malnutrition. Furthermore, the byproduct of these warehouses will be utilized in the implementation of bioremediation efforts. Bioremediation is a process used to treat contaminated media, including water, soil and subsurface material, by altering environmental conditions to stimulate growth of microorganisms and degrade the target pollutants.
We always love to ask about the support network – have there been people, perhaps mentors or advisors, who have played a big role in your success?
Family is at the center of MyceliOhm’s foundation. Our company is being curated as a family owned business with the intentions of building a far-reaching community that upholds these same values. That being said, our family and friends have been very supportive of this venture and we couldn’t have made it this far without them. We’ve been blessed with the support in the form of donations or investments from each of our parents as well as a few friends and colleagues. Our influences from the fields of mycology, holistic herbal medicine, health and wellness, nutrition, permaculture, agricultural science and psychology have provided a wealth of knowledge and inspiration to us as well. At the end of the day, our combined wealth of knowledge will be one of the essential keys to the success of our company and our reach.
