Meet Amie Bennight and Julie Megahan of Delilah’s Fashion Truck & Boutique

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amie Bennight and Julie Megahan.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Amie and Julie. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
The story began when two Texas girls met years ago in Colorado while our little ones were in preschool. We bonded quickly, in many ways, but primarily through our love affair with shopping. When an old school bus ‘fell in our lap’, we knew it was a sign to follow a dream of a creating a boutique on wheels. The dream came true after three months of hard work, refurbishing and retouching every single inch of the 1996 Chevy School Bus.

Delilah’s Fashion Truck hit the road in August 2017 and has been going strong up and down the front range ever since. Our girl has made road trips to and from farmers markets in Fort Collins, vintage art festivals in Denver, food truck rallies and festivals in Pueblo, and private events at homes and businesses everywhere in between.

In March 2019, Delilah’s opened its first storefront space inside Splendeur Boutique Salon in historic Old Colorado City. The shared space is a popular stop for tourists, local shoppers and regulars visiting the salon for full-service hair and skincare. Following the success of the first space, we were invited to share space on the north side of Colorado Springs. Delilah’s on Front Street opened in downtown Monument in September of last year and enhanced the experience at the French Ruffle Market, a vintage home decor venue.

Delilah’s Fashion Truck is a regular at several recurring festivals throughout the year and is booked most other weekends for private events like birthday parties, book clubs, holiday get-togethers, girls’ night out, and more.

Our mission is to be a gateway to on-trend fashion and accessories for women of all ages. Our lines are hand-picked seasonally at fashion shows and markets. We keep a close eye on trends and topics that make our selections current and keep your wardrobe noteworthy. Along this incredible journey, we have been most fulfilled by the remarkable visitors who remind us what it means to feel beautiful. ~ Amie & Julie

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It seems every small business has bumps and growing pains. And as an ‘extra small’, we felt lucky to have had very few, but we were confined by a mission to float the business without accruing any debt. We succeeded. It was a challenge to find workarounds and ways to build and grow without a pool of resources. The credit goes exclusively to the incredible supporters, often small business owners themselves, who encouraged and included us. ‘She believed she could, and so she did.’

Delilah’s Fashion Truck & Boutique – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Delilah’s Fashion Truck & Boutique is a mobile boutique featuring on-trend fashion and accessories for women of all ages. Our goal is to stock merchandise that is practical, invigorating, and affordable for our friends and customers in the Colorado region. Our mobile boutique travels the front range and is available for private events and homes or businesses.

We have found women value the ability to shop with their closet on hand… so bringing the truck to a client’s home with a smaller, close-knit group enhances the overall fashion experience. Expert customized outfitting and walking your very own runway with friends and family aboard is a powerful testimonial we hear often and seems to keep them coming back for more!

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
We have said this to each other so many times… when it doesn’t feel like work you know it’s right. We follow signs and signals together to make decisions about the business. If we don’t agree, which doesn’t happen often, we work through it until we do. The unspoken rule about going into business with your best friend has been broken. But we have beat the odds. We are closer than ever. We ARE the business – together – without the other, it simply doesn’t work.
