Meet Analise Lawson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Analise Lawson.

Analise, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started my business after years of being a freelance photographer for other companies and assistant to other photographers. I wanted to be able to schedule my own hours, make my own decisions about my art, and be able to be home with my daughters. When I first started my business, I was always more interested in finding long-life clients. Then COVID hit. I had my second daughter on March 1 and in fear of the isolation creating PPD, I decided to go for walks each day from two weeks postpartum. I saw someone on the Erie page mention that they saw the “Porch Projects” on the east coast and I thought, “Huh! I could do that!”. So it started as a small project where I took photos while walking with my girls in different neighborhoods and it exploded from there. I took over 600 porch pictures and delivered a few photos digitally to each family. It was all free and all to keep my mind busy. It was the coolest project I have EVER done and it leads to some great new clients.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Absolutely not. Starting your own business is incredibly tough. Plus I started my business a few months prior to COVID, so when it hit, I could not qualify for any unemployment or assistance. I was left frantically worrying if I would ever have a job again if I could actually stay afloat during a worldwide pandemic only days after childbirth. It took tons of mental and physical drive to keep moving forward. However, staying true to my company and to myself has been the most rewarding experience.

We’d love to hear more about your work.
I am a photographer who specializes in families, children, weddings and other special events. I also do restaurant photography (food, ambiance, etc.). I known best for my porch project and family photography. I am most proud of my determination to give people lasting photos at affordable prices. What sets me apart from others is my drive as an artist, parent, business owner and woman. I will always make it work and I will always make it so that people can get affordable photos that they love.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
My family and friends are my number one supporters. I am so grateful for my daughters who are my focus. I want them to grow up and see that mom did it and NEVER gave up even in the toughest of times. I want to thank my man, Jeremy, who is not only there for our daughters and me, but also works his butt off so that I am able to stay home with the girls and start my business. Lastly, I want to thank Wurth Chiropractic because not only have they been the best clients and best chiropractors, but without their nomination, I never would have had this interview!
