Meet Archie Colgan

Today we’d like to introduce you to Archie Colgan.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Archie. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I am an MMA fighter. My journey started a year and a half ago as I transitioned from college wrestling to MMA fighting. I ran into my current coach at a local gym in Westminster and turns out he wresting for the University of Wyoming also and turned to MMA after going all the way to the UFC. After briefly talking with him and asking if he would teach me some striking just really for casual learning experience. I started to love the process and the experience and haven’t turned back since. I am now 3-0 with all three finishes in the first round by KO or TKO my most recent fight was July 11th where I won my first belt for Sparta combat league at 170 lbs with a :28 second first-round KO.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It’s not always smooth sailing, my journey isn’t the longest so I can’t say I’ve had a bunch of bumps in my road but I did have some trouble locking down an opponent for my July 11th bout with going through 3 different guys pulling out before getting the contract signed.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I am an MMA fighter. I train 5-6 days a week with most days have three work out sessions involved. I am proud of how far my striking has come in such a short amount of time. I’m probably most known for my wresting because I had a lot of success throughout my college career and have been wrestling for 19 years prior to this change. What sets me apart is my hard work and determination in the gym every session and training round.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I used to think that success is only based off how much you win but I now know that it isn’t that but solely making sure you are better today than you were yesterday. I want to have 4-5 pro fights by the end of 2021.
